Has anybody found relief for cramping of feet and legs?
I was diagnosed with peripheral neuropathy, idiopathic, about 2 1/2 years ago. I am 81 years old and have been, walking, exercising in a pool, doing weight training and doing alot of exercises recommended for neuropathy such as balance and feet movements. I have tingling sensations in feet ,calves and beginning in hands. Some decreased sensation in my legs. Sock syndrome feeling in my feet. No real pain. For awhile my feet and legs were cramping ,at night, no major issue.Would use therawork, magnesium cream, heat. All successful. Recently the cramping has increased in intensity and frequencies to include daytime as well as at night.I noticed my feet and legs were cold. Using a heating pad,or foot bath worked temporarily. Now it has become a daily and nighttime issue. My sleep is erratic. The pain more intense.
I would appreciate any suggestions even from medications. I did think about buying feet warmers . If anyone has had success with such please advise. Thanking you all for reading and hoping to get some suggestions!

Definitely see if you can get to a larger city neurologist and spine specialist. It seems you should have an updated EMG/nerve conduction study,
Small fiber neuropathy skin punch biopsy, plus MRIs of lumbar spine and hips/pelvis to narrow down source of symptoms.

Make sure to push and advocate for yourself and don’t let providers dismiss you because of your age and gender.

1 ReactionMy PA recommended 50mg Vitamin B6 daily. This has stopped my leg and foot cramps.
I will post for everyone and let them try as they will. It worked for my neuropathy cramps and it cost nothing nor is it a medicine. As silly as it sounds, put a large stuffed toy under the blankets at the foot of the bed to support them. A Thrift store is a good place to pick one up cheap. Works right away.

I thought 50Mg of vitamin B6 was too much for peripheral neuropathy. I think foe a women over 50 should be getting only 1.5 mg. What's your take?
I certainly well as a warrior for myself and my health! Thank you for the
charge,

What are the benefits of getting etiology for my peripheral neuropathy. At 81 years old surgery might not be a great option considering my good functioning.
Have been living with ideopathic peripheral neuopathy for about 5 years. Has impacted primarily feet with some sensations in calves. Recently beginning to feel some numbness in my hands. Also had nightime cramping in my feet andfcalves. Taking magnesium tablets had no impact. About 2 years ago a neighbor told me about Calm, an OTC magnesium-based powder. I take the recommended dose at bedtime. Cramping disappeared immediately and have not had any cramping since.
