What blood pressure medications don't cause hair loss?

@amandajro I was on bisoprolol for 3 months and was switched to dots lol which I’ve taken for the past 9 months. Hairdos has been gradual but now that it’s become quite noticeable I’m hoping to find a new way to regulate my heart rate and blood pressure. Thanks for your help. *Sorry for the typo- I mean sotalol.

Is anyone taking Bisoprolol observe hair loss?

I am currently taking Bisoprolol for about 2 months, in replacement of Metoprolol. I was started on Beta blockers after my second cardiac episode in May. I am experiencing severe hair loss ever since, but I have been dealing with less severe hair loss for about 10 to 15 years. In retrospect, this seems to coincide with when I was started on high blood pressure medications (diuretics). Does anyone else experience hair loss with those medications ?

The better question to ask is which anti-hypertension drugs will control my BP adequately. I’ve taking Lisinopril 10mg since 1984 with great control. I became allergic to NSAIDS after having taken them for 15 years awhile back. We tried other anti-hypertension drugs both ARB and ACE without successful BP control. So I remain on my same med and I do cannot take any NSAIDS for my chronic back issues only pain meds. The hair loss can always be treated with dermatology support. I will admit I have male pattern baldness but not due to medications.

@swilkins1974 that has been my thoughts reading through their problems. Maybe lifestyle changes like cutting carbs, sugar, processed foods, etc. Also, adding supplements like the beet root, cocoa (that adds nitrate), fish oil, CoQ10, Vit D3, trace minerals,etc. - supplements that will help. Yes, you will need to check on whether the doctor or check online for interactions with your meds, When we take drugs it can deplete other minerals and vitamins our body needs.
Many cardiologist still do not believe metabolic health has anything to do with heart disease. I believe it does. They both have a place in our efforts to be healthier.

I see @jenatsky’s recommendation that dermatology may be able to help. A thought…maybe you could ask someone on your care team to pursue an e-consult with a dermatologist to chime in with thoughts and recommendations.

I will definitely look up @mannism for feedback on metoprolol and hair loss.
I have consulted with many dermatologists over the years including some specializing in hair disorders, without any success. In my case it is definitely not genetic (hereditary) as both my parents, my grandparents and uncles & aunts all had full heads of hair when they passed away. I wonder if the BP medications I was on for about 10-15 years (diuretics) were the culprits. The hair loss has definitely increased tremendously since I started taking Metoprolol first and now Bisoprolol, both beta blockers.
