I am moving forward and trying to find a new way to deal with this diabetes because I’m tired and I need help right now so it needs to be done

We all have a friend or two who will tell us how little they eat, and how they can't understand why they have such problems. The truth of the matter is they aren't giving us the real facts, and they are overeating or eating junk food for a binge. We understand and we try to love them anyway. Don't be misled by the little white lies that cover up the addictive eating. Some stories won't add up so we might as well confess and get over it. Dorisena

I don't know why people not honest with that i love my life. I have a dietitian i became close and i read everything i eat and drink. I know if your not honest there is no help, but i will always tell what i eat or drink. I got into my app fatsecret it tells me the carbs to every restaurant in the world
Thanks, Lovette, I appreciate that you are always honest about the problem. We can trust each other and support everyone. I do have relatives that fudge on the truth about their eating something awful, so I mentioned how it bothers me. I left a church last year partially because they didn't take diabetes seriously and didn't support my efforts in controlling my diabetes. I am so much happier with a better environment in my new church. And they are thoughtful at church dinners with the menu. It helps me to be more disciplined in my diet and I trust the people that they respect me. We are on a good path to success.
Beautiful picture!!! I'm with you, I get so frustrated trying to find my way with Type 2 diabetes. I'm trying to control it by myself. Just diagnosed this summer. It really has been a struggle and having someone to share ideas with is awesome. I try to read as much as I can without getting hoodwinked into trying this method or that method. Basically I stick with trying to eat right, write everything down, exercise, and keep track of my numbers. Worked really well for two months when the newness wore off and the "I'm tired of doing this" began. I'm trying to start each day with a new attitude, believing that God will get me through the day, doing the best that I can. Right now I'm checking to see what supplements that I can add that will help in lowering my glucose levels. The two that I'm going to try are: magnesium and B-12 complex vitamins. I'll do each separately and watch to see what it does to my numbers. Probably will go two weeks using magnesium and then starting the B-12. I'm also going to make an appointment to have my teeth cleaned and checked as having gum disease can be a big one to affect numbers. I would LOVE to visit back and forth with you and share ideas. I pray you are not leaving this forum.
I am not sure that supplements will aid in lowering blood sugar. They may help if you are not eating balanced meals and are deficient in something, however. When I gave up all bread I felt bad so I thought I was missing B-12 in my diet, so I went back to limited multi-grain bread and felt somewhat better. But only limiting the carbs and exercising more lowers my blood sugar. Also I am now living a life with relatively less stress and no pain meds which definitely keeps blood sugar from rising. Insulin shots lower blood sugar but it rises again especially if you eat big portions as I have always done. Metformin helps a little but it sometimes makes me nauseous in the morning before breakfast. One of my goals is to get off it if I can. I also try to lose some weight and keep busy on my good days. I'm just hoping that by adding the supplements I don't have the big fluctuations in my numbers. I haven't been able to exercise like I want to due to my sciatic nerve flaring. Trying to keep busy. I really want to get another 10 pounds off by Christmas. Just a crazy goal. I'm trying to work whole grains and beans into my program. Just don't want to overdue. Right now I'm battling olfactory hallucinations. My sense of smell is telling me that I'm smelling diesel fuel. It's been going on for about 2 1/2 weeks now. It is continuous and can get very strong smelling. The longest it's lasted is about 7 weeks. Very frustrating. I start sneezing and get nauseated. So, what do I do….I eat more because I can smell the food and taste it. Crazy but hard to control. Nothing I can do until in goes away. Some people smell lots worse stuff. Mine usually stays with diesel fuel or several different types of burning smells. I've walked the house many times thinking something is burning. Kind of freaks my husband out. Some day I'm going to tie a diesel fuel soaked handkerchief around his neck to give him an idea of what it's like. I bet he wouldn't last an hour. Sorry to complain.
Well, my husband smelled like diesel fuel on his clothes from working in his shop, so I understand the smell. You are not complaining. I know when I eat fish, it makes me smell strong and in my physiology class I learned that fish makes a sulphur smell in the body. But I don't see that supplements will lower the blood sugar any. It may help with dieting if you are deficient in something, however. I also had to smell the awful hair coloring he used, in bed, so I finally slept in the other room.
Sounds like you may be allergic to something. It is a mystery to me. Still, the numbers fluctuations come from food. Balance is a big goal in meals, with protein, veggies, fruit, grains, and dairy. Even my snacks are balanced. Dorisena .
kateia: I’m not an expert but I don’t think either of those will directly effect your blood sugar levels. Magnesium will help lower your blood pressure (careful as too much will give you diarrhea), and vitamin b12 will help your blood flow to lower chance of diabetic complications for your feet.
The best chances of natural supplements to lower your blood sugar that I’ve found: cinnamon, berberine, and turmeric. Each might work for one person for a time, but may not work for someone else. It also depends where you are in your diabetes progression.
However, I’ve found the best chances to lower your blood sugar levels are good choice lower carb meals of reasonably smaller amounts (think of a 10-12 oz meal size), plenty of water, and a regular exercise routine. The regular exercise will really help smooth out your numbers.

Well said, Howardm! It is the message we need to repeat every day for the rest of our lives. Protein, veggies, fruit, maybe a little bread, pasta once in while, fruit, a little daisy or other calcium, and keep moving. I look for something new to eat all the time. It is an adventure. I like traveling it with friends. Dorisena
Yess im trusting God too. They kept saying i was type 2 all the time and hundreds of hospital stays finally they said im type 1 the cgm monitor and the pump putting it in my stomach im so tired but God is giving me strength. But keep up with your vitamins and your vitamin D is so important but we can talk anytime

All I know that it deals with teeth and bones but they freak out when it's low
Vitamin D deficiency is often found in poorly-controlled diabetic conditions, but they don’t know which causes which. Low levels of vitamin D also leads to fragile bones. I would recommend to ask your doctor to test your level before taking any supplements, if you haven’t already done so. (Excess vitamin D can lead to toxic levels.)
