Hypothyroid problems
I had to have my parathyroid glands removed by a provider I was "forced" into working with (former PCP wouldn't do the tests required by a renowned Parathyroid Center - he wanted to keep it in-house). It went south fast because they had to "jiggle around" to do find the glands. Three years later I am still experiencing severe hypothyroid issues. My current Endo says my levels are w/in normal range, but that range is broad and I just happen to fit in. It takes 6 weeks for the lab tests to register drug changes (a long time when you are suffering). I am extremely drug sensitive to almost everything and am in the process of meeting w/new Endo. Hot flashes, body aches, dry skin and nails, mood swings, anxiety, sensitivity to hot and cold. Any suggestions I can pose to my new Endo will be appreciated. Again, I am extremely drug sensitive.

My thyroid levels stayed low on levothyroxine, synthroid, even armor thyroid but when I switched to Tirosint solution my levels shot up. I even had to decrease my dosage. It contains no extras or preservatives. It is also not covered by. Insurance of course so I get it direct from a specialty pharmacy that the manufacturer recommended. I’m sensitive and have many allergies plus it is a liquid form of thyroid medicine. My T4 doesn’t convert to T3 on any thyroid medicine so I also have to take Cytomel. Now all my levels are good and I feel so much better!

1 ReactionThanks, I will pass this along to my new endo when I can finally get in to see him (I am on his cancellation wait list for the time being). The People's Pharmacy (public radio, Joe and Terry Graedon [sp?] host it) had a segment on thyroid but I don't know if it was current or a rerun. I believe they said armor wasn't going to be available in the future. It seems everything that works isn't covered by insurance...the great American pharmaceutical system, ka ching, ka ching. And I have a platinum insurance plan to boot.
