Giving up diet soda to kick sugar cravings
The single-most effective way I have found to combat the constant sweet tooth (that I developed after menopause) has been to give up diet soda. Any kind, including Coke Zero Decaffeinated.
I find that I don't crave sweets anymore. And, my overall appetite has been suppressed compared to what it used to be.
The explanation: The artificial sweeteners found in diet sodas are many times sweeter than sugar, so they cue your brain to crave more. Deprive your brain of that cue, and voila!
Stevia, which is a natural plant-based sweetener, is OK. I still use that.
Here's hoping it will stick.

@judybradford This is an excellent plan. I also noticed that my sweet tooth diminished after stopping the diet sodas.
I gave up all diet sodas several years ago figuring there is absolutely nothing of nutritional value in these sodas and there may be ingredients that could be harmful. I do have an occasional diet soda when I'm out with friends as consider it a "treat". I like the carbonation so I drink carbonated water on occasion.
Hoping that yes, this change will stick with you.
