extreme daytime fatique—-is there a cure?

As a relatively healthy 85 year old male, a geologist and wildcatter and a writer of historical oil field fiction with many wildcats to drill, and many goals left to achieve on my bucket list I need help in overcoming the excessive daytime fatique. I have experienced with worsening fatique over the last several years. I would appreciate any suggestions as to how to overcome this. . I have lived with asymptomatic AFIB for about 6 years, treated with Equuis anti coagulant, and my high blood pressure is normalized with Losartan 100 mg and Lasix. Since I came down with AFIB I discovered I had obstructive sleep apnea and went on CPAP, then when I stayed at 12-14 Sleep Apnea I was moved to BIPIAP 4 months ago and now hooray the apnea is a normal 3. But my daytime fatigue and lack of energy continues to worsen. I have taken two 200 mg Modafinal daily for a couple of years and Modafinal gave me lots of energy originally, but that energy has dissapated today into worse excessive tiredness and lack of energy. Should I go thru the Mayo Clinic at Rochester?

@gamesjr

Anyone have good or bad results taking Nuvigil or Modafinal to combat Daytime Fatique?

Hi, @gamesjr – I moved your post on daytime fatigue and the potential goods or bads of taking modafinal or armodafinil (Nuvigil) here to a previous discussion you were involved in on dealing with this type of fatigue. Hoping @sandytoes14 @1942daa @johnhans @contentandwell @abopp2022 @peach414144 @oldkarl and @predictable will have some thoughts for you on these medications.

Is this an everyday thing, gamesjr? If you have any days of relief, do you notice any patterns on those occasions?

@lisalucier. @gamesjr I wish I could help but I have no familiarity with the drugs mentioned. My daytime fatigue seems to be sporadic and I think I can attribute it directly to simply not getting enough sleep at night due to stress and bathroom calls.

I presume your doctor has checked to see if your blood counts are where they should be, they can really contribute to daytime fatigue too. At one point when I had cirrhosis my blood counts were so low that I had to stop on my up the stairs to take a break!
