What was your experience with Voriconazole?

Hi everyone,
It seems that some of you were on Voriconazole because of Aspergillus infection. Did you have any side effects? Anything regarding this drug treatment and infection experience you want to share?
I had my bronchoscopy last Wednesday, some test results including a fungus test will be back in a few weeks, My pulmonologist wants me to start Voriconazole, he doesn't want to wait based on the ct scan and the exam he did via bronchoscopy. He seems certain it is an aspergillus infection.
Thank you for any tips you can offer.

Barbara, I have BE too and my PFT is also high (99%) for my age.
Doesn’t that sound weird? Shouldn’t we have poor pulmonary function with BE. I’m confused.
Oh and I am being treated for MAC and Aspergillus too. No side effects after 5 months of treatment. Praises.

Glad to hear 'no side effects' on the antibiotics. Wonderful.
I think, not sure, but if our BE is such that the airways have not been fully damaged or filled with the problems caused by mucus sitting there and our BE is mild....that might account for a good PFT. For now, thank goodness our PFT's are good so far.
At some point if my MAI shows a much worse count of infection, I will rethink going on the antibiotics.
Considering all I truly do not know about why I have the need to constantly clear my throat all day such as, is it also related to the hiatal hernia, do I actually have GERD yet tests show no acid reflux, I finally have said to myself "it is what it is and just keep doing all the daily therapy routine with good eating habits and a good nights sleep to help myself. "

Maybe Sue, if she happens to catch our posts and has time to reply, might have a better understanding and information as to why.
Barbara
