How do you deal with dry eyes?

My eye doctor put plugs in my tear ducts of my upper and lower eye lids. First, he just put them in the lower lids but my eyes still did not make enough tears. Then he put them in the upper ones and my eyes stay moist all day. I don’t even need to use my Refresh eye drops.

How is the procedure done?

I've had dry eye for a decade now and use over the counter drops, which are helpful. Recently, I had my first clogged up tearduct. It's left a red bump that looks like a sty. I'm wondering if the plugs are helpful?

I have dry eyes and have been on a prescription for Restasis since 2009 (15 yrs). I just went through cataract surgery last year, afterwards continued with Restasis and added OTC wetting eye drops to my eye care program. I had viewed many TikTok and YouTube videos about how warm compresses twice a day (morning & night) could help with dry eyes and there was even a cataract doctor selling his special brand which was not an option for me because of the continued cost. I reseached heated eye massagers. I used ChatGPT, an open AI program to list ten top rated heated eye bands putting in the specs that I wanted, e.g. USB rechargeable, heated, massaging, BlueTooth compatible and a wrap adjustable headband. It was my first purchase of this kind type of product from a list of products generated from ChatGPT (you can use a Google search too but so much simpler on ChatGPT !!) and took that list and looked the listed items up on eBay.com.

I found the LAMeVen eye heated eye massager, USB rechargeable to be absolutely fantastic. Wow, I cannot say enough good things about this marvellous product. (note: this is not an advertisement and I'm not trying to sell you anything).

Dry eyes can be very frustrating and just wanted to share my experience.

One other thing, there are a few items that may feel like dry eyes but I have realized may not be but simply eye sensitivity:

1) eye makeup.
2) allergies - of course.
3) drinking too much coffee - 'yes' this may sound odd but it seems like it for me.
4) dust - of course or any other commonly recognized eye irritants.
5) definately not getting enough exercise (my biggest down fall and an area where I procrastinate)
6) I never consided the colder winter months living here in the Upper Midwest to be a culprit but it very well could be. I'll have to keep an eye on this possibilty - 'pun' intended : )

I had plugs too, but still have to use the special eye drops. Glad your plugs are working. But then again, mine were placed YEARS ago. Do the Refresh drops work well?

I’ve had plugs before, but didn’t see much of a difference. Maybe, I’ll try them again.

He did it in his office during regular exam. Does not take long and eyes feel better right away

My regular opthomologist did it.

The Refresh drops helped some but doctor said I still had low tear production so that is when he put the tear duct plugs in.
