Good Morning, @hadedami and welcome to Mayo Connect.
Without knowing more about you, your physical condition, and what is happening in your life, it is difficult to say what is causing your problem.

One of the most common causes of sudden, unexplained excessive dreaming is stress - our bodies react in many ways to it. Another is medications, particularly antidepressants. This can happen with a new med, a change in dose, or a change in health that causes your body to react differently to the medication.

Here is what Mayo Clinic has to say about excessive dreaming :

Have you spoken to your doctor about the problem?

I am a certified health and life coach. I help with sleep. So could it be the foods you ingest before going to bed? Are you anxious before sleep? Journal your thoughts that cause anxiety and tell yourself you will relive it the next day. Listen to spa music while falling asleep. If it’s not an emotional situation maybe you have a sleep disorder like sleep apnea. Talk to your doctor about the possibilities of this. You may need a sleep study. Hope this helps!! 🙏

Am 79 and a dreamer for most of those years as was my mother as are my adult daughters. My spouse contents he does not dream - or maybe once every few years! Someone once called it "vivid dream recall" and that everyone dreams but not everyone remembers their dreams ??? I have the very weirdest ones and if i wake say 3 times, which I do, and fall back asleep 3 times, I have three different dream settings/situations - talking pets; swimming in murky water (I cant swim); going to dentist or doctor; and more really bizzare, bordering on nightmares but not quite. Years ago a friend said his dream night before was all about being in the French Revolution and dream went on and on and then the guillotine came down on his neck: when in fact a book on the shelf behind the top of his bed fell across his neck ... therefore he believed that the "long" dream actually happened in seconds, when the book fell on his neck and woke him. I haven't read the above post about what Mayo says about dreams but will. Once in a while my dream will be so very vivid and perhaps about a relative who has passed as an example, that the dream stays in my mind for hours after I wake as its so "real."

Has anyone ever discovered why we dream and wouldn't it be amazing if they could hook us up to something that recorded our dreams? Or would it?
