Introducing Brinsupri - Dr Chuck Daley video

Posted by becleartoday @becleartoday, Sep 14 7:08am

Dr. Charles (Chuck) Daley speaks about BRINSUPRI (brensocatib) in a way that is incredibly reassuring.

He explains:

⭐️why the drug is considered safe,

⭐️why it’s not thought to suppress overall immunity, and

⭐️how it will also be used at National Jewish Health for people with NTM lung disease.

Let me say, Dr. Daley is truly one of the best teachers out there. He has a gift for breaking down complex topics with clarity and depth.

I found this video uplifting, and I think you will too!

Hopefully yours,
Linda Esposito

Yes, it does. Having elevated neutrophils is not a requirement for taking the drug.

Linda, Thank you so much for sharing! SO interesting!!! The fact that the big pharmaceutical companies are now researching BE drugs is so encouraging. I am really excited about the phage treatment, and it sounds like we will know so much more in 3-5 years. Also, the structural element of NJH and the centers-interesting that many of the NJH patients are coming from the more local centers. I listened to the BE NTM Patient Conference on Saturday, which was very long but will post when I get the video. Kathy

I think it was in this video where Dr. D mentioned once they build out the bronchiectasis care center network, new drugs will be able to set up their clinical trials more quickly. They won’t need necessarily to hire third-party companies to fill their participant slots. And this could bring drugs to market sooner. Fascinating and very encouraging!

Yes, I heard him explaining that. That was also great news!

Regarding the Phage therapy, Dr Daley mentioned that it was done along WITH antibiotic treatment. He said they were injecting it twice a day. If I am not mistaken, he said they found it breaks through and allows the antibiotic to penetrate and work. They eradicated a case of M Ab. Also he talked about Monoclonal Antibodies being used to treat Pseudomonas. There is alot of great research going on now. Wish it all could come sooner!

I found this very helpful and encouraging about Brinsupri. Wish he would do webinar where you could submit questions.

Irene, I live streamed the 2025 NJH BE NTM Conference and submitted a few questions and all were answered. In fact, I submitted 1 question a few minutes after the conference ended, and it was still answered. The presenters stayed over until all questions were answered. 700 people zoomed into the conference.

Anyone understand ----
Since brensocabit targets neutrophils, if neutrophils are generally normal, does brensocabit still work?

Thanks!

I asked Dr Daly if someone with eosinophilia (vs high neutrophils) would benefit from Brinsupra and he replied that the Alpine (I think that's the name) study showed this to be true. I haven't read the study, but it may be worth a look.

The Aspen study was a study of 1700 participants. The FDA’s approval was based on that study’s findings.

I will get my pills on Monday. I have some worry's. I watched Dr. Daley, who treated me for 3 yrs for 2 mycobacteria. I feel better knowing he is giving it to patients, and also had much more to say about Brinsupri than I learned from anyone else.
I feel somewhat better taking it knowing he is so involved. I might watch it again, listen again. See what I might have missed.
Thank you Linda for posting. He is the best!

@Cathln
Always my pleasure. And he truly is the best. When you think about it, he is at the top center for BE and NTM in the United States and perhaps the world.

During the professional conference, he made it very clear to the internists and pulmonologists in the audience that he will be prescribing Brinsupri on a case by case basis. That includes people who have NTM and other comorbidities and even those who may not be experiencing frequent exacerbations but are simply feeling unwell.
