does anyone take verapamil?

Just wondering about the medicine verapamil? I was put on this along with metropolol and couldn't handle it! Called the dr. and they suggested to go off the metropolol and stay on the verapamil. I have no angina on the verapamil, but have times throughout the day that I'm lagging. It feels like I have my foot on the accelerator and the brake is also on;0 Thanks for any input.

I started Verapamil after not being able to handle Diltiazem. I had severe full body pain. I was taken off the metropolol before the diltiazem. I'm tolerating the verapamil pretty well, but still have a lot of SOB. Unfortunately my insurance only allowed me to see the cardiology team at Mayo for clarification of diagnosis. They thought I might have had cardiac sarcoidosis, but the biopsy revealed Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma instead. I see people mention a COE Dr. How do I know if my new cardiologist (first appointment is Sept 2) is COE?

Please find out if your cardiologist is associated with a COE (Center of Excellence - a place with medical professionals that specialize in HCM or other particular ailments). Look here to find out which places have that designation: https://www.4hcm.org/ You can also ask those you saw at Mayo for a recommendation. I was taking Verapamil for many years before a septal myectomy. During the last 5 months before surgery, my dose was increased (do not remember the specifics), an annoying side effect was constipation.

Hi - I was diagnosed with HOCM in February of this year. I take verapamil and Jardiance together and I feel terrific with no side effects. I still have occasional breathlessness but only a few times per week and my stamina is much better. But each person is unique. I hope you will get meds that work for you.

Yes i am on Verapamil like you it took care of angina -- i dont think i have the sluggishness tho in early summer i certainly did -- discovered my red blood count was too low -- take an iron pill a day and my energy level is back to normal
