Does anyone have experience with Prevagen helping with confusion?

Hello - my wife is in mid stage dementia and her confusion level has gotten worse lately. It does not appear related to a UTI. A home health care aid has mentioned that Prevagen has helped some of the dementia patients she has worked with. I am very skeptical of this drug given their creepy commercials and the fact that the FDA has not found any scientific basis for the drug to improve memory or any other dementia symptom. I thought it was worth polling this community for real world experiences.

@abid These are anecdotal observations and not backed by any scientific evidence. The long term safety and risk of drug interactions are unknown. AARP is concerned about the misleading and unsubstantiated claims by the makers of Prevagen:

"Last year, the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) and New York’s attorney general sued Quincy Bioscience for false advertising in federal district court in New York. The case was dismissed but is being appealed to the Second Circuit Court of Appeals.

“The statements Quincy Bioscience makes to sell Prevagen — that it treats memory loss — are unsubstantiated and misleading,” said Julie Nepveu, a senior attorney with AARP Foundation Litigation, which filed the brief on behalf of AARP and the foundation." (from the AARP website).

My understanding of Prevagen is that it is a scam. I would not bother taking it. Could do more harm than good, but who knows really?

My understanding of Prevagen is that it is a scam. I would not bother taking it. Could do more harm than good, but who knows really?

@dianaml Agree. It is misleading and lacks any scientific evidence of efficacy. It's safety is unknown.
