Did anyone have a missed diagnosis of NSCLC?

Did anyone have a missed diagnosis of NSCLC? I had a routine chest Xray in the ER incidental to any lung issues. The radiologist saw a suspicious nodule and recommended a CT scan follow up. The hospital never gave me the report. 4 months later, I was diagnosed with lung cancer. The nodule had grown from 1.4 to 3 cm. Curious as to how unique this is.

It's the flip flopping that is really bothering me. Going from all nonchalant about it making me wonder if they even care too now I'm the one having to be strong for them because they are scared. Where was that for me when I was struggling to come to terms with this. Anyway humans will be humans I guess. I'm glad I have these groups or I would feel completely alone in this. Thank you all for your support and understanding. 🙂

Some reserved optimism. Met with pulmonologist today. He believes the lung tumor is only stage 1. He also doesn't believe chemo will be necessary.
I have a breathing test and PET scan scheduled for Thursday this week. Waiting for a call from Mayo Rochester to schedule surgery.
So some good news and a plan coming together. 🙂

That’s exactly the way it went for me! Stay strong! Remember, walk as much as you can or exercise a lot Before surgery to get your heart stronger and your lungs stronger. It really helps for after surgery recovery as well. Stay positive!

Been doing 1 hour at 3.5mph 3 times during the week and 2 hours on Sundays with my trainer. I have switched to full cardio. I was training for powerlifting but that is being put on hold. I'll get back to it once this little battle is over. 😉

I just noticed that you're the originator of this thread. Sorry if I seem to have taken over. I don't have all that much discipline but I am loyal to my trainer. We started off agreeing I would pay $400 a month for training. We had some things come up along with this health issue and I could not pay him. He straight up offered to continue training me for free. He has been my best friend for the last year and a savior. I'm as strong physically as I've ever been. Don't quite have the pep I had as a kid though. LOL We switched over to mainly cardio once it started looking like lung surgery was in my future. I owe him so much and possibly my life in some ways. Would not have been able to stick to this on my own.

@bradandrus76, I hope the PET scan goes well today, and you receive more good news.
You have an impressive workout routine! You have found a real treasure in your trainer, and I’m sure he’s looking forward to helping you get back to great health too.

Thank you Lisa. 🙂
Unfortunately the pet scan is scaring me. There is uptake in my bone marrow. Hoping it's something other than the cancer. 😭
