Desvenlafaxine (Pristiq) How does/did it work for you?
I've recently been prescribed Pristiq (50mg) after trying Citalopram (20mg). On the Citalopram my mood improved slightly - felt kind of numb emotionally, but physically I felt horrible. Headache, anxious, pounding heart, constantly hungry, didn't sleep well, felt as if I had been poisoned, just overall blah. I haven't started taking the Pristiq as I understand it's more difficult to stop and I dread the potential side effects. I was diagnosed with clinical depression in my early twenties and am now in my late fifties. I have tried Paxil, Welbutrin, and Prozac in the past. Over the past six years, my depression has been worse than ever. I'm interested in hearing from folks that have experience taking Pristiq. Thanks in advance.

I know this is old, but how were you switched? Was it a cross-taper, or did you drop the effexor, then start the Pristiq? I'm supposed to do this in a couple of days.
I've been on pristiq for a long time and reduced dosage to 150gms about 2yrs ago. I now want to taper off altogether as I am suffering from heart failure
Any advice?
Any success with anxiety levels from increasing Pristiq from 50mg to 75 or 100mg? Side effects? I was on 150mg Zoloft for many years but it was no longer helping. 50mg Pristiq has dramatically helped my depression but still struggling with anxiety. Doc recommended increasing Pristiq.
I went from 50 to 100mg and still have some anxiety. My Dr suggested 100 mg but I said no. Just joined Recovery International and am learning to help myself through changing my thoughts
I have treatment resistant anxiety and have been on numerous meds, Prozac, Paxil, Vybrids, currently on Lexapro and gabapentin. On be Gene Study it indicates Pristiq would be in the group of recommended drugs. Anybody have experiance on Pristiq? Thanks!!
Has anyone ever been on Pritiq? I was just prescribed it.
@pbradley1954 - I wanted to let you know I moved your post here to a discussion with members discussing desvenlafaxine (Pristiq) and how it works for them so that you could get broad input on this medication you were just prescribed. Here's the discussion:

Hoping members here such as @amy4nick @con123 @germangal and others will have some input for you on how desvenlafaxine worked for them and any side effects they have faced and positive or negative effects they have seen.
Have you now started the new medication, pbradley1954? If so, how's it going so far?
EEK...it looks like pretty severe side effects. I haven't started it yet because I am going away for a week by myself and don't want to start anything new in case I have side effects. Reading the comments, not sure I want to go on it.
