Depression and Chronic Pain

Posted by sharlynn62 @sharlynn62, Nov 27, 2016

I have been dealing with episodes of major depression and dysthmia since I was a teenager and now I am in my 50’s and have moderate to severe arthritis in my lower back and knees along with chronic daily migraines and I am in pain just about every minute of every day. I wake up in the morning disappointed that I am still alive and have to go through another day. I feel that I am a huge burden on my family and am nothing but a “shell” full of negativity. I don’t have a decent doctor who will work with me to address all of my problems and help me with other methods since I can’t take opiod meds and NSAIDS (I had bariatric surgery) and now my insurance company wants to stop paying for my weekly therapy sessions (they’re cutting them back to twice a month.
I feel so hopeless and trapped. I don’t want to live like this. I will never end my life, though, because I know what suicide would do to my family and I would never put them through that. I used to be able to work and that was how I coped; I’m no longer able to work and it’s killing me. I have no one to talk to that understands and doesn’t mind listening to someone who is not Miss Bubbly and full of interesting stories to tell. Insights anyone?

Here are some resources from Mayo Clinic regarding medical marijuana.

Dr. Jon Ebbert, an addiction specialist at Mayo Clinic, explains how medical marijuana is used to treat pain and disease symptoms. This interview originally aired Aug. 18, 2018.

@merpreb

@rucyrious– I am totally taken back by your criticism.
I have had 4 lung cancers since 1997. All of the suffering that I have had with that is no less real than mine with depression and anxiety or PTSD. And of course tools have to be employed along with chemicals. Mayo Connect is a place for support, comfort and information.

@merpreb Three cheers for you Merry

@merpreb Hi Merry,
Gummys are an easy way to use CBD oil. The oil can be used many ways, vaped, under the tongue, and gummys. My son vapes so he asked the smoke shop guy a good way for me to try CBD oil. The gummys are like the sour patch worms candy kids like. Except they were not sour! More like Swedish fish I guess.
Any form of CBD oil should be kept away from kids and pets ( although I saw oil for pets advertised)

@sandytoes14 Hi Jen!! Good to see you again. How are things in the Fibro field?? I am still trudging along. Have you found the gummies help? Curious. Hoping to start using the CBD again. For now I am using hemp oil. It doesn’t harm and their are some health benefits. I have noticed my skin and hair feel better.

@parus Thought I would throw in my very recent findings (last Thursday) about CBD gummies. There is a local shop that I buy CBD from. When I inquired about the gummies for someone else who can't stand to use the straight oil, they admonished me not to – that the gummies don't work well. (They sell alot of CBD.) For a shop whose very existence depends on what they sell locally to tell me this about CBD gummies speaks volumes to me. Look at the softgels if you can't stand the oil, but I'll take the advice of those who know first hand from their customers. I'm sure brands matter, but I haven't discovered the "magic" of which one is best, and even when I find out, I won't be able to share that publicly here. Thanks for listening.

@freshair I was vague in my comment. I do not have any problem with the oil. I can appreciate the earthiness. Thank you for your input I though.

@parus Fibro is mostly controlled right now. Like you I try not to complain and am still trudging along. I found the CBD gummies made me calmer. For me, they are not worth the cost which was $27 for 12 gummies. Hey having better skin and hair is a nice benefit from the hemp oil! Thank you for the warm welcome Parus.
