Why did my daughter, age 16, have a stroke?

My 16 year old daughter had a stroke in October, can not figure out what caused it. They initially thought it was Lupus but all test and check up with Rheum. came back neg. Waiting to see Neuro, but she does have migraine with aura and was on birth control which we did not think anything about d/t her being 16 and very healthy and the dr never said it would hurt her. Any ideas? Is this what may have caused my healthy 16 yr to have a stroke?

After my first and only IUD, there’s a possibility hormones changed and exacerbated my Fibromuscular Dysplasia which caused 3 strokes.

@chanda79 - wow, three strokes is a lot. Wondering how you are doing lately? Do you have any deficits from the strokes?

Hi, when you here at a young age the PFO comes up. Many young people in therapy with me had that. I also got found out after 64 years and a stroke . The tiny flap in the heart wall doesn’t close at birth. See your cardiologist. Your doing right by networking. Hope all the best for your daughter.
