Has anyone ever been on Duloxetine (Cymbalta) for nerve pain?
Has anyone ever been on Duloxetine (Cymbalta) for nerve pain? I've had 2 doctors push this on me. I know that the side effects can be terrible and getting off of it difficult as it requires titration. One time I remember taking one pill, and not liking the way it made me feel, so not taking any more, and still feeling the "weirdness" from it 2-3 days later. and that was only 30 mg Please pass along any experience or advice from this medication?

Been taking Duloxetine for several years. Was at 90 mg, now down to 60mg. Looking for neuropathy nerve pain relief and slight depression, I want to stop it entirely as no improvement. What is the suggested way to taper off this Rx and stop it completely? Duloxetine nothing
I started gabapentin 3 months ago and it helped my nerve pain. I was also put on cymbalta one moth ago. I am hoping the gabapentin will keep the pain down when I get radiation treatment. I was on cymbalta once before ten years ago and managed to come off of it slowly. I am taking cymbalta to counteract some of the affects of Orgovyx which is an ADT drug. It’s bad when you have to use drugs to counter act other drugs but being put on Gabapentin has helped me with the nerve pain also.

I would never take that drug again. One it doesn’t work. In addition, the withdrawal symptoms are among the worst of any drug!

1 ReactionI’ve been on Cymbalta (duloxetine) for years, originally for fibromyalgia which it did help. When I tried to go off it, I became very depressed so I went back on it at a lower dose (30 mg). It seems to work well for me.
I started taking gabapentin after extensive spine surgery 18 months ago. I started at 300 mg a few times a day for acute nerve pain but now I only take 100 mg at night. It seems to help me sleep better as well as deals effectively with my neuro pain. Clearly, it’s not for everyone but after I experimented with dosages for each drug, I seem to have found the right “cocktail “ for me.
Yes I took cymbalta 60 mg 4 months. It didn't nothing for the pain.
I've been taking it w/2400mg gabapentin daily for quite some time. I am still achy most days and have excruciating pain when I overdo things. The pain when I don't take my medication right away in the morning is worse though. I can tell a difference, but don't have complete relief. Eventually the weird feeling that you felt goes away as your body adjusts to the med.

Thank you for your comment. Since G. has been reported to put you a bit 😶🌫️ in a fog what a good idea to try a single dose at bedtime managing less confusion. I agree with it is an effective agent for neuro pain. Alas life at eighty will never be pain free. Also used generic duloxetine for cymbalta for many years with plausible good results. Thanks again for commenting.

1 ReactionI did take duloxetine for several years for depression.
Be careful. When withdrawing from it I started a migraine headache that last for over 3 months! It was awful. Lots of meds needed to get rid of it!

Thank you for the heads up. The doctor who wrote my original Rx
when I did ask him about titrating off it told me that he wasn’t treating me for depression! Go figure. Years later a different concern and doctor, put me back on it. A Pharma-carousel whirl.

1 ReactionI’m on 60mg of Duloxetine for the last two years, due to a fast onset of acute Fibro, degenerative bone and joint disease and severe joint pain. I took it because my Primary who I love said it’s would work best, but he did not tell me how bad it was to come off of it and I’m pretty upset about it. It helps but I want to get off all the meds and try natural remedies. Has anyone been weened off this medication? If so what happened, how long did it take etc…
