Has anyone ever been on Duloxetine (Cymbalta) for nerve pain?

Has anyone ever been on Duloxetine (Cymbalta) for nerve pain? I've had 2 doctors push this on me. I know that the side effects can be terrible and getting off of it difficult as it requires titration. One time I remember taking one pill, and not liking the way it made me feel, so not taking any more, and still feeling the "weirdness" from it 2-3 days later. and that was only 30 mg Please pass along any experience or advice from this medication?

It was a new prescription, I only took one pill, it made me so dizzy plus vomiting so I went to the emergency. I won't take it again.

Yes, Duloxetine was the last prescription drug I took. All the other’s made me lethargic /dizzy, unable to function. I thought Duloxetine was my answer. It took my pain level (an 8 ) to a lower pain level (5-6) and so helped with my depression from this crazy condition. UNTIL, I developed severe intestinal problems - which went on for 3-4 months and I did not want to believe it was the Duloxetine. Pain Management & Gastro doctor convinced me to wean off it. Amazing all my stomach issues went away. To date, I am not taking any prescription drugs except Zolpidem at night to sleep. Manage the pain during the day which starts our on the low scale, and by late afternoon, I want to scream…and then I just wait until I can go to bed and pop a zolpidem , longing for some peace. Sleeping pill gives me 5-6 hours. I am thank for that.

Hello, Doug, yes, I was prescribed Cymbalta from a Neurologist after a phone visit. That is an entirely different story, finally getting an appointment with a Neurologist, but it is a video-visit.

I took my first dose on a Friday, and 24 hours later, when it was time for the next dose, I was still very dizzy and not feeling well. I did not take another dose, as I did not want to be walking around like a zombie.

I've gotten some decent relief but I never felt like myself. Hard to explain except I felt like I was out of my body -zombie? Not sure quite but felt weird.
Going off the cymbalta was awful and It took a long time
If it helps then you need to weigh benefits vs drawbacks

I have taken it in the past and am currently taking it for nerve pain and depression. It does make my mind more lethargic but I have always handle it well. It has helped lower my nerve pain.

I was prescribed Cymbalta for nerve pain and it didn’t help. Additionally, I had horrible nightmares and my doctor slowly took me off of it.

Have had the leg and foot pain and TN pain . Going on 10 years . Recently went to a pain clinic and was prescribed amtripolyne, cymbalta, and nabalone all low dose 5 mg. Initially not a positive response but for some reason kept going and after two weeks slightly positive response and now good response and to say the least quite a surprise to me. Not saying it is great but a sense of pain relief for all the issues which for the time being is ok. Going for PNS surgery and will see how that helps. Told it is good

@asjc you went on all 3 - we're asking about Cymbalta. Just Cymbalta. You dont know if it was Cymbalta or all 3 or what.

So far Cymbalta has not helped my nerve pain. Only Neurontin ( gabapentin)has.

@patriciaschulz1950, what kind of stomach did you have? Constipation, diarrhea, nausea?
