Has anyone ever been on Duloxetine (Cymbalta) for nerve pain?
Has anyone ever been on Duloxetine (Cymbalta) for nerve pain? I've had 2 doctors push this on me. I know that the side effects can be terrible and getting off of it difficult as it requires titration. One time I remember taking one pill, and not liking the way it made me feel, so not taking any more, and still feeling the "weirdness" from it 2-3 days later. and that was only 30 mg Please pass along any experience or advice from this medication?

Why would anyone start on Cymbalta if Eli Lilly discontinues it? Start with another version of duloxetine that will still be available in the future.
I was taking Cymbalta, did not work. So I was given gabapentin and tramadol, those did not work. Was given muscle relaxers, and low dose Zongran. Was not working. Now I am currently taking a stronger dose Zongran of 50mg and steroids. It's not working. I already had a left Lumbar Sympathetic Nerve Block. Did not work, made my CRPS worse. Have to get a different Nerve Block. I am so lost and in pain .
@irene5 I have taken them together, but I thought they were making me too sleepy so I started taking Tramadol in the morning and duloxetine (Cymbalta) at night. Problem solved.
I’m sorry Bunny, but I am shocked. The pharmacist specifically told me under no circumstances to take them together!! I’m glad you are doing it the way you are doing it now!! Irene
I've heard this before as well, folks taking both of these together. It doesn't seem like it would be a good idea, but I guess Doctors treat each patient differnetly.
Taking them at the same time increases the risk of serotonin syndrome. Tramadol effects don't last long, but it is detectable in your body for more than 24 hours. At least that's what a nurse indicated when I was discharged from Mayo Methodist. If you get involved in a MV accident and they check your blood you might have some splainin to do or be charged with being at fault.
What is CRPS, and what are your symptoms?
Hi @fibrogirl61
I've was on Cymbalta duloxetine 60 x 2 for approx five years (was experiencing severe back pain while walking and playing golf). This was several years ago. I began feeling much better in time (my back pain had reduced almost completely) so I decided that 60mg twice a day was likely more than I needed (it was just a guess), so one day I just dropped to 60mg x 1 (once a day), and didn't really notice any difference taking that dose. I have stayed on that dose until now. During the past few weeks I've had to switch from the Eli Lily Cymbalta to a generic (Lily stopped making Cymbalta suddenly), and it has been difficult. I'm slowly getting acclimated to the generic, and hope to have that resolved within the next month or so. Duloxetine has been a godsend medication for me over the past ten years. As for other medications, yes, I take others for rheumatoid arthritis but these meds do not conflict with duloxetine. All the best.
@duendecito3 Im so sorry for the forever delayed response...ADHD here, and my entire family. In response to what you said about the fam doc, I have not been to see her or go to ER (cause I didn't see your comment d'oh). The pain has increased as I'm down to 150 mg Pregabalin twice a day. Still on duloxetine as I was having a really hard time weaning off that, and figured one thing at a time. I have been laying down a lot, but Im also Post Op back surgery, so I need to walk. Its a six of one half dozen the other. Now I have Covid (at least wife tested positive and Im symptomatic) so I've been finally taking a breather the last couple days as wife is over the hump...anyhow enough of that. Nutrition wise. not good. i'm trying to keep up water intake as. best I can, I have not heard off Clonidine. I like listening to true crime podcasts and fiction James Patterson, specifically the cross series. It does help distract a bit. Just had repeat MRI done for Post surgery. That was done friday. December 21 had an ultrasound for pain in groin. Pain doc was concerned about hernia, it's not but mentioned a lymph node...I may as well be in just about every group Mayo clinic has at this point. Im complicated and have a daughter with SB (spina bifida) also currently recovering from feet surgery. (Her Post-Op is tomorrow, hoping casts come off its been 5 weeks). So we have very complicated medical stuff. Im sorry, I don't even know you and am literally vomiting my life's problems on you Im really sorry
Im on 300 pregabalin twice a day actually. Idk what happened, i just talked with pain doc the other day was supposed to go down to 300. day (150 morning and night) and now ive been on it since december 31 since my brain has been in limbo. i cant believe I was this stupid and it took me 5 days to realize the mistake. UGHHH! So annoyed. Don't see him till the 14 either....Im so annoyed. Was suppossed to go down not up
