Cough forever???

Posted by payette78 @payette78, Feb 1 7:49am

Hi, all, I am 78 and recently diagnosed with bronchiectasis. Awaiting a bronchoscopy. The doctor told me he would not be able to prevent me from coughing. I've had a chronic cough for over 2 years. How do you cope with the emotional impact of knowing you will never be rid of the cough?

I agree! I have been amazed how much throat lozenges help with coughing. Luden's Wild Cherry works for me but it's probably bad for my teeth!

@scoop Ludens Wild Cherry cough drops reminds me so much of my youth, I used to eat them as if they were candy so I get the teeth comment!

LOL! I had chronic sinus infections/ cough as a kid. The nuns were convinced Ludens were candy in disguise, but my dad kept me supplied by sneaking a box into my book bag

I wonder if foods rich in pectin would be at all helpful for keeping our coughs at bay? Such as apples, citrus etc.

Scoop- Found some good information on pectin after googling: What is pectin good for".
I eat apples often with nut butter, walnut flour, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, chia seeds, milled flaxseed and unsulfurated coconut on the apple slices. I think it benefits me a great deal.
