Continued Post-Nasal Drip and Constant Mucus in Throat

Posted by adominic @adominic, Mar 22, 2022

I was sick the last week or January/first week of February. Home Test-negative, rapid PCR-negative. All COVID symptoms and known prolonged exposure to infected individuals make me believe it was COVID. Since then, I have had a tremendously hard time dealing with post-nasal drip and mucus collecting in my throat. It is clear, sticky and almost impossible to remove from throat by coughing or clearing my throat. Flonase does nothing, allergy pills do nothing. Had anyone else had an issue like this post COVID? How long did it last? What did you do to cope? Small problem in comparison to others that post here, I realize.

Same for me. The post nasal drip, tickle and coughing was so embarrasing. I came across a natural remedy posted by a pharmacist that seems to be working. Ponaris Nasal Emmolient (one full eye dropper) added to Nasacort 24hr allergy relief .57oz spray before I go to bed. For me, the symptoms have dimished.

My symptom is just constant mucus in my throat. I cannot cough it up its just there... so annoying plus food or pills sometimes get stuck and takes a bit to get it down. Just frustrated.

Yes, like others I have a constant feeling of needing to clear phlegm but it’s impossible to cough up. Worse at night / lying down. Sometimes it wakes me and I can’t breathe. I have found Caprylic Acid capsules at bedtime help. So does fresh ginger in hot water. But it’s exhausting and constant.

I'm willing to try these two. I've tried multiple nasal sprays and gargle/throat sprays to no avail. I recently started doing saltwater nasal irritations, two per day. The attached pic is what happened within minutes of first rinse.

Does this help with the chronic coughing trying to get the mucus out?

The quote to this suggestion was "you need to get rid of the snot in order to stop the cough" Its working well for me. I'm no longer turning the head of my 13 month old grandson by coughing every 10 minutes. I do 2 sprays in each nostril at bedtime. I've tried many remedies and this works well for me.

Ugh. Yes, that clear, sticky, stringy mucus that nothing seems to eliminate. It's worth a try and not terribly expensive. Mine started after Covid and receiving the monoclonal antibodies.

I usually start with similar symptoms in Winter, and Mucinex has helped.

I agree. I have lots of allergies, vasomotor rhinitis, my sinuses often drip down back of throat. I started trying the “lower dose” of Mucinex generic (WalMart Equate) and it makes a big improvement! Not needed daily. I also was prescribed nasal spray Ipratropium and that helps a lot also.

I have never been diagnosed with Covid but received 2 doses of covid vaccine in April/May 21. Since that time it seems I have had this same chronic feeling of pflegm in the throat and constantly swallowing and never goes away. I am wondering if others that have had the vaccine and have also experienced this problem. Now 18 months later I am still struggling with these same symptoms.

I’ve had this exact same thing for 2.5 years. Never had covid, had just the one AZ jab and this is one of several symptoms I have from it. It’s ruined my life. Can’t cough it up, it’s not in my nose, a sinus rinse has confirmed that. I find it easier to get some of it out when I’m cleaning my teeth? Still waiting on an ENT appointment.
