Continued Post-Nasal Drip and Constant Mucus in Throat

Posted by adominic @adominic, Mar 22, 2022

I was sick the last week or January/first week of February. Home Test-negative, rapid PCR-negative. All COVID symptoms and known prolonged exposure to infected individuals make me believe it was COVID. Since then, I have had a tremendously hard time dealing with post-nasal drip and mucus collecting in my throat. It is clear, sticky and almost impossible to remove from throat by coughing or clearing my throat. Flonase does nothing, allergy pills do nothing. Had anyone else had an issue like this post COVID? How long did it last? What did you do to cope? Small problem in comparison to others that post here, I realize.

I use same thing. It helps a bit but very temporary. I am going to start in Singulair next week. I will keep you posted

Will do. Some days I feel are better than others. Not that it ever goes away, but I wonder if I’m just getting used to living like this.

Same here. It has been that way for me from the start though, bad days and less bad days on and off. Can't seem to find out if it's completely random or if certain triggers are involved. Feels like the first option. I'm starting H1+H2 blocker next week to see if it has to do with histamine / MCAS. Will update 🙂

I have had constant thick phlegm since April 2021 (about 7-10 days after receiving the 2nd dose of the vaccine on 3-21-21) - I was suicidal for a while - no sleep for me or hubby having to listen to my efforts to get rid of the phlegm. I have tried so many things - nothing has worked (all suggested/prescribed by physicians). I have decided not to get another vaccine because I am sure it is the reason I am suffering. Now what? Between a rock and a hard place. Guess I'll be wearing a mask any time I go out. So damn frustrating.

that does look like there may be a bacterial infection there.Ask your Dr to swab and do a culture.
My horrible post nasal drip feels like a block of mucous stuck in my throat. It is always white very thick and sticky and it can wake me if I manage any sleep by choking from it. Nothing has worked. only steam inhalations. The feeling of slime goes down my throat. I so enjoy being part of choirs but with it stuck and on my tonsillar crypts it’s interfering with any singing, as constantly trying to swallow and breathe. Compared to serious lung lobe collapse liver damage and GI extensive inflammation and fatigue this is the worst symptom.

Supposedly I've never had covid however a few months before we heard of covid I had a horrible cough headache just generally feeling nasty. I've never tested positive for covid however I've had for Moderna vaccines. Since that time I have suffered with the same exact issue thick clear mucus so thick I can't break it loose I can't blow it out my nose sometimes I can't even swallow it. I've tried everything as well doctor sent me for allergy tests I'm allergic to nothing they say had a sleep test for sleep apnea nothing there. I have it so bad sometimes I just stay up all night and get no sleep at all. I use as Azelastine spray twice a day along with a Saline spray. I also have a perforated septum due to a botched septoplasty to correct deviated septum. Going tomorrow to have a septal button placed over the perfection hoping this helps. My new ENT is performing the procedure. She sent me for a CAT scan of my sinuses and it shows various spots of thick mucus. I still believe it's from covid vaccines or possibly covid itself just went undiagnosed. Good luck you're not alone.

My doctor keeps pushing me for a sleep apnea test for fatigue. That is not the problem. I know my body and my sleep cycle.
Same for the nasal drip, I’ve been to allergy testing, been on several sprays, nasal wash and allergy pills. Nothing even slows it down.
Fatigue, fogginess and the post nasal drip…there doesn’t appear to be any answers or even a direction.

I had a cat scan of sinuses and it also showed mucus on one side. I have allergies but nothing that most people don’t have( mold, pollen and dander). I have taken anzelastine and many other nasal sprays which didn’t help. Tomorrow I am starting singulair to see if that helps.

I have the same thing. It wakes me around 2-3am choking and I can’t swallow it or clear it. Copious amounts of thick white mucous w bubbles in it. I’ve had one confirmed Covid infection. My doctor had no idea what it was but a herbalist said Candida infection and sure enough probiotics helped.
