Constant tinnitus: Are there any solutions?

My physician said there’s really no guarantee a hearing aid will stop the tinnitus. I’d love to be able to take a test drive before I invest.

If you mean the kind for music, yes and they didn’t work. I have small ears (the opening). I had to go to children’s plugs to stop water from getting in my ears when I was having chronic outer ear infections, commonly called swimmer’s ear. I got tired of them falling out and use cotton now.

I think I also have small ear canals, and I like my phonak hearing aids because they fit in my ear canal, but also have a part that drapes over my ear to hold it in place.

God Bless You. I have tinnitus in both ears with hearing loss. The right ear is a high pitched sound
and the left it is like Morse Code. After 6 years of this, I went to an Audiologist and got hearing aids and it
has been wonderful. I would say 90% of the Tinnitus is blocked out.

I do know someone that went to Costco and only got 1 hearing aid. I hear wonderful things about Costco. I'm
not sure about them letting you try them out before you buy though. Insurance (Medicare) should help with
the initial exam fee.

It does take a few weeks-months to get use to them. I was missing my families conversations, especially
if someone had a low voice. At church I would just nod and smile as the background music or people
talking drowned out the person I was talking too's conversation.

My hearing aids have an option of setting it to Tinnitus, which provides a background noise. I have moved on to a paid app called "Calm", which allows you to choose the kind of music you like (no words, and you can add nature sounds - up to 3 - to your music). I found that the best choice for me is music that dogs like! You will find the kind of sounds you like, then focus on them. You will learn that you can filter out the ringing in the ears.

Most sellers of custom hearing aids are required to give a 30 day trial period and must take them back within that timeframe if they don’t suit you.

I have always been a musician and have had tinnitus for almost 40 years now. Acquired it in my early 30s, and I was told then, there is no cure, and read it many times since. All you can do is try to ignore it. If I am busy dealing with life, everyday living, etc, I can tune it out. If it is quiet and I am alone with my thoughts. The tinnitus volume is at 50%, but it is so far higher-pitched than normal sounds that it doesn't interfere with hearing.

I have seen ads on ways of curing it. But doubt it. Eventually, I just learned to live with it. Just like I periodically get 'floaters' in my eyes, which might stay for weeks, months, or even years. I just learn to ignore them, and most of the time, the ringing in my ears doesn't bother me, but it has never made me wince. I would check with an ear doctor.
