Chronic Nausea, Told Not GI Related, Have GERD. What Dr should I see?

Posted by mikejjb123 @mikejjb123, Jul 27, 2022

I have chronic daily nausea. Seen a Gastro and had all possible tests which came back negative. Now told nausea not related to the GERD. Not sure of next steps. Even had my gallbladder tested. I have colitis but it is under control. What kind of dr should I see next? Internist? Neurologist? Thanks. I am lost and confused.

What have you tried to get your nausea under control?

See an Internist who can do a full work up
GI includes stomach liver intestines and pancreas
Neurological issues can cause nausea drug interactions too
The Internist can determine the cause Good Luck

I have taken pepcid over the counter as well as about 10 different prescribed medications. None work. Thanks. Any more ideas?

I take about 10 pills a day. Asked about interactions but no answers. I am going to try a internist next. Thanks and appreciate your input. Any more ideas?

Try a functional dr or a naturopath. Also, reflux does absolutely cause nausea.

The real problems started when started taking anti nausea meds. I take dexlansoprazole at night and when i wake up i feel lousy. As day goes on somewhat better. Also just went to Johns Hopkins University Hospital for second opinion and told to go to a motility clinic. Really hard getting answers about drug interaction. Hit or miss. Appreciate any additional input. Thanks.

I would think your pharmacist could tell you about possible drug interactions. I have GERD and often am nauseous first thing in the morning, I feel likely due to acid during the night.

I thought the pharmacist would know too! lol. My symptons are like yours too. Nauseous first thing in the morning. Reminds me of the movie Groundhog Day. Same thing everyday. Anyway, i was told to go to a motility clinic by Johns Hopkins Univer. gastros. Gonna ask my primary gastro what he thinks or he will drop me. Thanks!

I am having a motility test next week! I’m hoping to have the Linx procedure.
