Celiac Artery Aneurysm Question
Hello, I am age 69 and have a 1.5 cm CAA found on a CT scan July 2025 when I had kidney stones. I had no symptoms at the time. I saw a vascular surgeon that was recommended by my electrophysiologists about 7 weeks ago September 2025 he did not seem too concerned and basically said I had no restrictions and said monitor it with a ultrasound in one year. Everything I read says otherwise, I told him I have done avid weight training most of my life. I have only walked and played disc golf since I was aware of the CAA, no weight training. I have been having intermittent abdominal pain mostly upper on the left side with occasional mild nausea the last 2-3 weeks. I notified the vascular surgeons nurse practitioner via message who was also present at my previous visit because I did not have access to the doctor on my chart to message him directly. She left a voicemail stating it is possible it could be something else, and I should see my primary to rule that out. I can't get in to see my primary for a month.
I would like to get a second opinion, but it is difficult finding anyone, I live in Central Illinois. The vascular surgeon I saw said he had seen several CAA patients that day I was there. Does anyone have any recommendations for doctors at Mayo and or Cleveland Clinic? I would like to at least get a virtual visit second opinion, or I could go in person if needed. Thank you and I would appreciate any and all feedback.
Steve

Just read your post. Wondering how you are doing right now? Did you figure something out where your symptoms are coming from?
They found my aneurysm in 2022. Only because I had a pulmonary emboli and needed a CT scan when they found it. It is only 1.3 cm and my vascular surgeon won’t do anything until it is 3 cm. He says it’s stable and will check me only every three years. So I stopped fussing about it. However with pain in that area like you described I would be concerned too.

1 Reaction@momof2gems I am doing fine, the symptoms went away and I did get a second opinion and it will be monitored annually.

1 Reaction@steveke I am only 40 and had pain similar but more centered like almost a ulcer and after eating it would get worse and it started when I decided to get healthy and join a gym two years it took but a cardiologist who specialized in the heart arteries told me I had a rare disease called MALS or Dunbar disease (I giggle because it reminded me of dances with wolves) but hope all is well as I had 3 heart surgeries since then and hoping for the best for you!
