CBD oil and depression/anxiety

Posted by lalyfa @lalyfa, Feb 24, 2018

I am curious to know if anyone has had success with CBD or Hemp oil helping with depression/anxiety? I’ve been reading a lot about it and am curious.
I’ve been reading about this and am very interested but would like thoughts/opinions from anyone who has actually tried it or knows someone who has. TIA

Thank you,
Laura

I have been using CBD organic, non GMO, USA grown, 3rd party tested, CO2 extracted CBD Hemp Oil for 8 months for my dog with stage 4 cancer and myself for chronic pain from an inoperable accident. I serve the homeless on the streets of my city and have seen 4 friends take it for anxiety, PTSD and paranoia. The remarkable difference is staggering. When they run out, we see all the issues return. CBD is cumulative, so we are in hopes it lessens their conflicts. All I can say is it has given me 8 more months with my little best friend, my dog and it has changed my ability to function and sleep. But also what it is doing for so many people struggling with anxiety and aforementioned is amazing. What is KEY is get it pure, uncut with any carrier oils and with a 60day money back guarantee, you have nothing to lose. The company I choose to buy from has a guarantee even on empty bottles. It restores the gut (our command center) to homeostasis and awakes the endocannabinoid system to speak with other organs. This is so unreal because the gut is where most issues lie. I had a brain trauma from my accident….it is now helping me with all that comes with that- dizziness, tremors, headaches, more. In my opinion, you have nothing to lose by trying it! (do not buy it in a head shop) It is legal in all 50 states, you do not need a medical card for CBD Hemp oil. I suggest the tincture placed under the tongue to enter the blood stream sub-lingually. It does not take 2 hours to react but each person is different. Remember this is an herb, not a drug. It will not mask pain or act like a drug. It is safe to take with any medication and has zero known side affects. If on blood thinners should start very low. In all cases, micro dose- GO LOW START SLOW. Do not start with the full dose on the bottle. Start with 5 drops 2x daily am and late afternoon or early evening and do this for 3-5 days before going up 5 more drops, etc until the full dose of 20 drops. Find your sweet spot. If you feel sleepy, drop down 5 drops for 3 days. Keep adjusting until you find a sweet spot. Medications work better while on CBD- it enhances their effects, especially chemo, so watch if you should come down a few milligrams off your meds. Results seen: clarity, alertness, no brain fog, reduced inflammation, reduction in pain, better sleep, cleared eczema, hair/nails/ grow fast and healthier, liver spots disappearing, better vision, better attitude.

@gailb I am in SC where it can only be prescribed for last days of cancer pain because they don't care if they get "addicted". I will not get on my soapbox, but I would much prefer being addicted to marijuana as there have never been any scientific studies that prove a physical addiction to marijuana as opposed to opiates. Maybe a psychological dependence, but two very different animals. However, I do believe the CBD oil that does not contain THC is legal federally and in all states.

! was ADDICTED to marijuana and became psychotic and suicidal. I did not know I was depressed. Now under psychiatric care thru my HMO. There are other addicted, there are Marijuana Anonymous Meetings in my community. Check out the research at "National Institutes of Health" – LOTS of published research also information thru Betty Ford Hazelden Clinic. Glad it works for some people.

Hello @2darling1,

I'm glad you joined this discussion and shared a little different perspective; I'm confident other members will join me in me in extending a warm welcome. May I ask if you would share a bit more? Were you taking marijuana for medical reasons? When did you realize that it was becoming an addiction?

I answered an email. This was in the 70's. It started out for fun, lots of laughs and I could not stop when I wanted to stop. No one was talking about grass for medical reasons at that time. One of my boyfriends was in the music business and had "great stuff" for clients and me. I was a young business woman in an executive position of responsibility for a major corporation…..with clients of corporations – conservative and business professionals. Good luck if it help you or others.

I realized after an incident yesterday that I need far more help than what I'm getting from marijuana daily. I've begun taking cbd oil .25 mg twice a day-a.m and p.m. But I'm curious to know if there is a better quality, better way of taking cbd oil. I've been diagnosed with PTSD, Depression, Anxiety, Insomnia, Social Phobia .. I've had several head injuries and two severe head injuries which my mother never taught help for. I believe I have IED-Intermittent Explosive Disorder, as well. I have rosacea that's been getting worse, so I decided to use THC oil and coconut oil OR vaseline as a moisturizer and I'll be!! It has helped so much! I have grandchildren and I NEED information. Perhaps Mayo will conduct testing?? I'm in!! I'll volunteer.
Sidebar: I used to be on so many pharmaceuticals, then went holistic for a time. So far the CBD oil is working best.
Sidebar Two: I've been smoking marijuana for 50 years-last twenty on the daily.

@lalyfa I have been taking cbd oil for a couple of weeks now and find that, for myself, I am feeling a little better. I've been off of pharmaceuticals for a couple of years and can tell the difference. This week's dosage is a little more, next week will be a little more again until I'm taking the full dropper full. It's tough having to experiment because not a lot of doctors (available doctors!) are knowledgeable yet. I still have "'bouts", only not so often, not so intense. Research all you can, though it can overload the system!! There's ml's and mg's in varying percentages that boggle the mind! Flavors and types and sizes oh my!!

Been on CBD oil for 7 days seems to help some but I have break through depression like today which is causing crying and nausea, have my self wrapped up in blankets fighting all this crap which has been caused from coming off Lyrica. Have a vape but it scares me I’ve never done anything like that

@cdcc Stay home. Hit the vape slowly. Relax…the 'feeling' won't happen right away, I call it creeping .. 'coz it creeps up on you. Before you know it, you'll feel better. I prefer to try something new solo or with a good and trusted friend. Going off pharmaceuticals is tough, but you are strong and can do it! You have proven that by your desire to rid yourself of the chemicals and try a more healthy approach. I sometimes make notes of times, dosage, reactions/feelings .. it helps to keep a record. Good luck! Prayers for you.
