Can I safely stop Eliquis and use Baby Asprin instead?
I have been on Eliquis for over 2 years following a blood clot in my leg. My PCP says I need to stay on it for the rest of my life.
I had venous ablation to resolve vein issues. I also tested for the blood clotting gene and do not have it.
I'm fatigued and weak since on Eliquis. Is is safe to stop taking Eliquis and instead opt for baby asprin?

Unfortunately, virtually no one who is likely to respond here can answer your question. We are not qualified. But, your question has merit. The thing is, aspirin and DOACs like Eliquis and Xarelto work on different aspects of the clotting mechanisms. They may complement each other, but they don't 'replace' or substitute for one another because of their different properties.
As you must realize, this is something to put before your physician. He/she might listen to your logic, and hopefully understand your unsettling symptoms with apixaban.
Are you certain it’s the Eliquis? My dad takes it twice a day. He’s so weak and fatigued. He takes it due to his heart condition.
I don't want to be guilty of causing someone harm, but i can't afford Eliquis and I now take A regular aspirin daily. My doctor does not really approve, but she said to take a 325mg aspirin if I was going to use aspirin.
That said, if you can afford the Eloquis, you probably should take it.
Baby Aspirin is no substitute for Eliquis! Only your specialist can make that decision. IF your blood clotting is indeed behind you -- you should NOT be on anything -- UNLESS you have arteriosclerosis or some form of vascular disease. Do you know if you do or don't? I suggest you don't jeopardize your life by increasing your chances of a stroke or heart attack or another clot and get into see your doctor and have them run the tests necessary to make that determination. If you aren't happy with your doctor, find another. I had a great pulmonologist from a Pulmonary Embolism and when they were positive my life wouldn't be threatened by another clot I was taken off of everything. But they need to run tests on you to determine that. You also didn't state how to you got to your condition. Mine was a specific cause. (A surgery.) However, since vascular disease runs in my family I've also made significant changes to keep those arteries open.
I don't know that Eliquis caused any fatigue. Make sure also that you are looked at for why you are having fatigue. If your arteries get blocked again you might need to deal with that causing your fatigue and its not the medication. See a specialist and have tests run and don't stop the medication! I know some dumbie friend that thought it wasn't important recently and he had a visit to ER with a clot! don't endanger your life.
If you qualify this should be affordable. I used it and paid only $10 a month for the time I needed it.

You can get it from a canadian pharmacy for around 60 dollars a month or less if you go with the generic that is available everywhere except the good old USA. Just search canadian pharmacy eliquis on google and a lot of options will pop up.
