Can coughing be a symptom of CHF?

My spouse has been Dx with CHF. She has developed a barking sounding cough. I am wondering if the cough may be related to CHF.

Hi and Welcome to Connect, Thats an interesting thought. I do know that when you have a bad rhythm in progress, including a heart attack, that intense coughing and also the tightening of your pelvic floor muscle can get you out of an arrythmia. I have done that with some success when I was having VT arrythmias. Now can your body do this automatically I can't say I haven't had any proof of that. Usually, it was something I did on purpose during an episode. Sounds like a great question maybe for your Cardiologist. Let us know what you find out that an interesting thought.

I have CHF, taking Jardiance for it. I have flutter and SVT going on 20 years, giving me three Type II heart attacks caused by it over the last 20 years. I've never had a cough like that. I wish I could help.

Seems like time for an echocardiogram if not done recently.

Yes! Yes, it most definitely can. It was one of my first symptoms of CHF, but from what I understand it can also be a symptom of worsening heart failure. Please see your cardiologist to rule any heart related issues out.
