Camzyos and insomnia.

Posted by 8leonard @8leonard, Aug 2, 2023

I’ve been taking Camzyos since 7/26/23. I have had 4 consecutive nights that I cannot sleep. I usually sleep very well. Has anyone else dealt with insomnia while taking Camzyos?

I take a melatonin before I go to bed and that helps me sleep better

As a "chronic" insomniac I'm happy to add my experience --- I have noticed no notable change in my sleeping, for better or worse since starting Camzyos about 6 months ago. The only medication that seemed to increase my sleeping woes are the beta blockers that I also take. I too take 3 mg melatonin before bed (actually a few hours before seems best ) Not sleeping is no fun! Hope you find a way to manage things...

Thank you for your input. I hope the melatonin will give me sweet dreams.

Hello - this "insomnia" thread seems like a good place to pose this question. I am someone that has dealt with insomnia for many years and I am very reluctant to take any sleeping medications that are addictive - i.e. ambian, zopiclone or lorazrpam - though I have used all of these VERY judiciously. My Doctor recommended that I try lemborexant (I believe it goes by Quviviq or Dayvigo) - theoretically, non addictive. I went through a 10 day sample pack and it worked extremely well for me.
My (very careful) GP wants to pause now and be very sure that this new sleep med does not interfere with my Camzyos. I will, off course, await the verdict! Meanwhile, I am curious if anyone with HCM is using this new medication or if a moderator here has some information on this.

I have been on Camzyos for 6 months. Currently on 5mg. I’ve never had insomnia problems and I still do not….sorry you are struggling with it

Hi I'm new here. I'm suppose to start camzyos but I'm scared to death of the side effects. I care for elderly and don't want to faint driving them around it also states the other meds I take don't mix well with camzyos like metoprolol amalodipine and artovastatin. Does any one take these with camzyos

I am taking metoprolol ER succinate with no side effects. My first dose of camzyos was 5mg and now it is 2.5. I did fall asleep (and quickly had hit a curb with no one around!) under 5mg and have been fine with 2.5. I have been on camzyos since June.

I also had trouble sleeping after taking Camzyos for a while . . . can't remember exactly how long after starting that the insomnia began. Camzyos also did not help my gradient or mitral valve regurgitation, was tremendously expensive, and inconvenient given the required ECHOS and interminable amount of time put on hold while trying to refill each month, so I stopped. My productivity returned with Camzyos and I felt much, much better for a while. It is undoubtedly a wonder drug for many people with HOCM.
A caveat to all who take meds for hypothyroidism is if you lose considerable weight on Camzyos, get your thyroid level checked to be sure you are not overdosing on levothyroxine (synthroid). I didn't realize dosage was related to weight and was quite ill for months before my primary care physician caught the weight loss vs. levothyroxine dosage issue.

Good morning! I just want to add some new information regarding insomnia and the new sleep medication lamborexant. (Also called Dayvigo or Queviviq (excuse spelling errors!) It has been presented as the newest non-addictive sleep med. I had some very thorough research done on my behalf for which I am very grateful (by the drug company, my doctor and the distributing pharmacy. The only "down" side ìs a slight reduction in the efficacy of the lamborexant. So I was cleared to use it. As with all medication not everyone finds this sleep med great for them but I am very happy with it. Just wanted to update my previous comment in case another "insomniac" is interested in options.
