Burning gut issues still, 11 months out

Posted by southam97 @southam97, Nov 21, 2022

My most plaguing symptoms 11 months out are burning gut from my belly to the back of my throat. Endoscopy reveals nothing. Yet it hasn't improved at all. It keeps me awake at night and miserable by day. Little appetite. The chronic nausea I can deal with easier ( but no vomiting) but this incessant burning inside from top to my belly is crazy.
I also have spasms just under my ribs that feel like early labor pains. No one can tell me what is going on inside my body.

Anyone else dealing with similar?

I've noticed a lot of long covid patients seem to have a past history with some of their most impactive symptoms (Like myself). While I'm not a doctor, I wonder if most of our problems relate to how the vaccines and booster work to combat Covid. My understanding is the vaccines are not actual viruses as in the past, but they simply trick our immune systems to respond to Covid even though there is no virus to be found. My concern is the methodology of tricking the immune to battle covid is now haywire and attacking cells in old past injuries.

I had a decades old gastric problem that was finally identified as an upper intestine diverticulosis problem and I started treating it as such about a year ago and felt better than ever (15 years of pain gone). Then once I caught Covid and started my Long Covid experience the gastric problems came back tenfold. Because of this I had a second filming of my upper intestine and the doctor was amazed at the apparent improvement - yet the pain and complications are still greater than I ever experience prior to Covid. Other old injuries - complications are also showing up - nerve damage due to skeletal misalignment and resulting hip replacement are now on fire all up and down the right side of my body. It seems like all old pains have come back to roost only now more painful.
1 - So, I wonder is it my tricked autoimmune system causing me so much grief?
2 - Why aren't they FDA approved by now? I believe they are still under emergency approval status?
3 - 3 years millions of cases and still not enough data to approve or at a minimum list the side affects? Being 75 I get every medication add known to man and woman and pronouns on my tv and along with the 30 second ad I get 90 seconds of side effects from heartburn to death yet my Covid vaccine ad from Phiser and Moderna simply implies if you don't get it you and your family will die. No second alert that taking this medicine "might kill you too". Why aren't they required to list potential side effects in their commercials?
4 - Where is the government in all of this? Testing has ceased, Masking and distancing has gone. China is going to follow the lead of big business and drop all their protocols here at Christmas time and the World will get a new Covid Christmas present for the holidays. You do remember it was one person in NY City that started the pandemic - we will soon have millions flying around the world spreading new variants - maybe then when the number increases, they will have enough guinea pigs to figure out if Long Covid is a side effect of the vaccines or not?

I’ve had bending over, feels like a heart attack heartburn for probably 10-15 years now. Was diagnosed with GERD and take omeprazole. During my transplant evaluation the team found a hiatal hernia. Explains so much, including the frequent hiccups that come out of nowhere that I’ve had most of my life. I need a transplant worse than I need that fixed, so putting it aside for now. Best wishes to you finding more out and getting some relief!

I was hospitalized last month for severe - level 9 chest pain. It felt like GERD tthat I have had most of my life but did not respond to Pepcid, Gaviscon, or Prilosec- but did respond to viscous lidocaine, Endoscopy was negative. It did respond to 500mg of quercetin twice a day and to oral cromolyn- a prescription med distributed as ampules I took 6-10 ampules and got total relieve. Now 6 weeks after my first chest pain, teh pain is less and I am on 2 ampules of cromolyn and one 500 mg quercetin.

Covid spike protein causing inflammation in your GI system, maybe?

REPLY

Not maybe - closer to probably. All the autopsies from earlier COVID deaths show signs of Spike Proteins in the GI as well as many other parts of the body. All one has to do is search for "Spike Protein - (Insert Body organ)" and find out where they (Spike Proteins) have traveled in dead covid patients. Brain, heart ......
So yes - infection is the main job of the spike protein - so maybe our vaccines are working too good. And us dumb long covid patients don't need to know.

I think, yes.

The past 2 days I have been feeling quite nauseous. I am 3 and a half months, since being diagnosed with COVID. The nausea seems to come and go, along with all my other symptoms. Continuing to lose weight. Can’t eat. I think the virus does hide in the gut. Ondansetron doesn’t even help relieve the nausea. I drink a lot of ginger tea as well. Anything anyone has found to help the nausea?

I am curious about the spasms just under your ribs. I have been left with spasms of my diaphragm (bronchspasms). My diaphragm will spasm pushing upward (as if it is in the relaxed position, before breathing in) and is involuntary. This happens from taking a deep breath while doing mild aerobic exercise, even walking the length of one block. While spamming, it will be difficult to breath in and requires energy and focus to stop the spasm. This is from covid. I’ve not heard from anyone who shares this problem and wonder if this is your experience. It has been a year since covid and has gotten better but not gone away.

Is the burning gut you talk about reflux? I ask because I too had this problem for which I used Tums constantly. I’ve also gone on a low acid diet and now find much relief as the symptoms have eased and I rarely need the tums.

I guess I want to say that conditions can get better with time and attention.

no, not reflux; that was ruled out. BUT Mayo doctors put me on LDN and mid-day gabapentin and upped my regular nighttime gaba, and it has disappeared! YAY!!! Thank God for the Mayoo Clinic
