Breast bone wiring

Posted by freedancer69 @freedancer69, Mar 4 12:32pm

Can any of you tell me about the wiring of the best bone back into place after an Aortic Septal Myectomy? Did you have a great deal of pain? Did it hurt to breathe? I am very nervous about my surgery on the 11 of April. I will be going to the University of Colorado Hospital and my Doctor is Dr Cleveland.

Can I ask how you were able to get Cardiac Rehab?? They told me that insurance would not cover the HOCM diagnosis. I could have used it as they messed up my back when they put me in position for the surgery.

I know that some insurances won't cover septal myectomy, which makes no sense to me!
Mayo Clinic made the referral and my insurance ok'd it. I find it reassuring as they direct and monitor me while I exercise to be sure I'm safely pushing myself while getting stronger.

I also live in CO but opted to go to Mayo in Rochester. I was very pleased with the decision as they had 2 surgeons that perform the myectomies, one for the septal and the other for a possible apical, should it be necessary. The apical wasn't necessary. I preferred going to Mayo as they do so many myectomies compared to other centers, (it was actually recommended by one of my CO cardiologists). I am almost a month out and my progress has been just what they told me to expect. It was a 2 day drive but both my family and I feel it was well worth it.

Hi - newly diagnosed with non-obstructed apical HCM with small (< 1 cm) aneurysm. I live in northern CO (Windsor) and am seeing Dr Loffler with UCHealth. Who are you seeing? Do you go to UCHealth Anschutz?
