Blood test results: Why would my thyroglobulin be high?

Posted by jordana9110 @jordana9110, Jun 7 2:17pm

So I went for blood test last week and found out my cholesterol is high and thyroid is high.
Went back to doctor and they wanted me to go for another blood test and seems like Thyroglobulin Is high. What does that mean?

Hi @jordana9110 and welcome to Mayo Clinic Connect.

I am not medically trained and don’t know much. You don’t mention how high your thyroglobulin is or why your doctor wanted to follow-up and test it. It does sound like it is something your doctor thinks needs exploring related to your thyroid gland.

What prompted you to get bloodwork done, maybe routine or were you having symptoms? You mention your thyroid is high. What specifically? What is next?

@jlharsh the reason was because I have missed one period already. That’s why she ordered a blood test

Hi, @jordana9110

Have you heard more from your doctor?

So I ended up getting my period. But I went last week to the doctor and she wanted me to get another blood test and ultrasound. Because the thyroid was high. Results came back and going to see the doctor on Wednesday

@jordana9110, thank you for coming back and providing an update.

Are you going to back to this same doctor or are you getting referred to someone else, maybe an endocrinologist? What were the results of your blood test and ultrasound? How are you feeling, both physically and emotionally?

I feel fine. Just small nodules

They are referring me to a specialist

Should I be worried?
