Blood Pressure Measurement
Question for the group. Both my GP and Cardiologist said that the BP numbers are the most important barometer for Aortic Aneurysm. I have numbers that I have to be below which is 130/80 my BP is consistently below that. The question I have is how often do you all take your BP every day, a few times a week a few time a month? Thanks in advance.

If you have it under control, I suggest once a day.
I personally take it twice a day, around the same time everyday before I take my BP medications. That helps me keep a consistent record
My cardiologist said to take it a few times a week at different times during the day. The value changes during the day. I took it multiple times a day for a while so now I think I have a pretty good idea of the ranges. Mine is lowest in the morning and peaks in the afternoon. I tend now to check it most often in the afternoon, but try to sprinkle in a few morning checks. I probably don't do it every week, but I try not to go more than a couple of weeks without a check-in. I keep my meter on the kitchen table so sometime when I pass by I'll sit down and take it. It's there to nag me. 🙂
Before I knew I had an aneurysm, I wasn't very good about checking it and it crept up on me -- to 140s over 90s.
My husband did it several times during day right after surgery, takes meds daily. Now he does it once a day in afternoon just to make sure it’s not spiking. Apple watch is recommended or similar product which can log heart rate and bp as well. Bp may be done with similar.
Everyday until you are satisfied that your BP is stabile and at the level you want. Then a couple of times a week.
Thank you, yes I take it 3 to 4 times a week typically in the morning. My doctors said that should be enough as long as the number doesn't spike but if the numbers are steady 3 or 4 times is sufficient.
Yes that is what my doctors said. I asked if AM or PM they said what is convenient for me. I work and can't take it in the afternoon so I take it about 45 mins after I take my meds. The doctors want to make sure the meds are working and they are thank God.
I take mine 2x daily and my #’s have been consistent and usually within the range my doc wants to see.
My question is : Sometimes I take a second or third reading and even though I take them immediately following the first reading I get a significant drop in the top number- Like from 130 down to 115 or 110. Does anyone else here experience that? And what causes it? Thanks!
