Has anyone looked into a class action law suit regarding Benzodiazepines?

If I was you I would find something else other than those cuz they are very addicting
I found out that a lot of opiate users use Klonopins as a substitute
I was on it for 14 years and it totally and utterly affected my brain after last that's the reason why I have neuropathy as well because it says it messes with your central nervous system

My regular doctor didn't like the fact the sleep doc put me on klonopin so recommended I try trazadone for restfull sleep as that's a pretty common medicine. I tried it and the episodes came back so I felt as if I had to go back on the klonopin. My sleep doctor told me that at a dose of only .5 mg per day my chance of dependence was not likely?? He said most people were taking double that dose or more? I don't know what doses people here take or have taken but need to read through these posts. Thanks!!

I have been on a benzo since 1985! Weaned myself off a couple of times. On 1.5 mg per day. Last dr told me that I could take it until I was 100 with no ill effects! How wrong he must be!

I too felt for a long time that I could live my life with benzodiazepine, after all I tried so many antidepressants that made me physically sick. I started Ativan about 22 years ago and got off them twice but typically I went back to them even after an absence of 2 years. There are some people who have successfully removed benzodiazepine from their lives and I truly wish I had the strength to do the same. I’m almost 72 and the last 3 years have taken a lot out of me, a pandemic is a huge event to deal with in itself but then getting a cancer diagnosis twice definitely did a huge number on my body and soul. I’m still new to sharing my life with others who are going through the same thing and maybe worse but I think you’re all a brave group of people sharing and helping others too, God bless all of you, amen

Hello Elizabeth
It's a trip reading your story because 5 years ago the same thing happened to me when I seen my 13th Doctor in 3 years at this mental health facility in Sacramento
I was prescribed clonazepams what does the generic form of Klonopins in 2004 and as I was seeing my 13th Doctor she looked at my folder and said oh how long have you been on Klonopins
I told her since 2004 that's the only medicine out of the 30 that you guys have prescribed me that works for me
She said well you should only been on that for 12 weeks
She never once told me she was taking me off of my medicine
Now mind you this is 2018
They have no regard for our lives or our minds
The adverse effects of taking clonazepam for 14 has affected my entire life
I think we have to get a whole lot of people together in order for them to take it serious just one or two of us isn't going to help I don't think because I've called several and they didn't want to help me either

In response to @sears sears, I must say you are so good for my disposition, I enjoy your fighting spirit because I relate a hundred times over and I also wish something more can be done to stop this injustice against innocent people mostly women, what else is new. I older and I remember in the seventies the doctors were prescribing Valium like candies, even a song was written about this travesty.. it was titled “Mother’s Little Helper recorded by the Rolling Stones. It just shows that some things never change

They nEvEr even advised me of the long term effects from taking this medication.. I have a lot of issues that I shouldn't have at 48 like the beginning stages of dementia and I know it has a lot to do with good ol Klonopin

If you have dementia and medical records to prove this I think you have a case. I definitely think you could find an attorney to take this case.

If I had been diagnosed with dementia at age 48 while taking a benzodiazepine I would make it my mission in life to find an attorney somewhere in the United States to take my case. I wouldn’t stop until I found one. Don’t stop looking. You’re sooooo young to have been diagnosed with such a terrible disease.

I'm fairly new to this thread on the Benzos but this is concerning if correct? I have not read anything about this medication being tied to dementia at this point? I can tell you most people are deficient in Vitamin D and this has proven to be tied to dementia which is concerning. I know a large percentage of people would have low results if tested for D.

thanks for any input?
