Benign carcinoid tumor in bronchi tube

Posted by jessie1990 @jessie1990, Oct 30, 2025

Hi I've been diagnosed with a benign typical carcinoid tumor in my bronchi tube in right lung was found when I went to A&E with pneumonia back in July of this year I've had 2 bronchoscopys 2 biopys which showed benign carcinoid tumor I was sent for ct scan mri scan and pet scan pet scan was clear I was put under general anesthetic as my lung specialist said he might be able to remove tumor by going down my throat instead of haven surgery but didn't work but he was able to take 40% of tumor out as it was blocking my air way that's how pneumonia set in the 40% he removed also came back benign carcinoid 1 lymph node was removed and checked also clear now I need surgery to remove the rest I'm so confused as doctor said its a benign tumor then Google is telling me it's a low grade cancerous tumor but doctor nor lung specialist said anything about cancer just said its benign doesnt benign mean non cancerous and can any one tell me how surgery went thank you bless you all xx

@nannybb nope went down my throat to remove it but only could remove half of it so now I've to wait for more surgery to get the rest out the waiting is making my anxiety sky high 🥹

@jessie1990 Took half of it as in, it was part of a biopsy? I know when they did my biopsy, the doctor found out later that the tumor had shrunk. I wanted to know if it got smaller because he took part of it for the biopsy, or it got smaller on its own. The fact we don't get answers to these things is frustrating in and of itself. The doctor treats it like it is nothing. Which goes back to my gigantic post on being seen.

@nannybb no they took half of tumor by going down my throat because my pulmonary doctor said he could take it that way but when he went in it was actually stuck to my tube wall so he couldn't get it all so only got half I need to have proper surgery now to remove the rest think he removed like 40% of it but that was sent to lab that along with 2 biopsys by him and another hospital came back a benign carcinoid

@jessie1990 Ok, I get it now. I went back and read some of your previous posts and was confused. Now I really understand why you are anxious. I am so sorry it was not a success the first time. Where is your pain coming from? The first procedure site, or from having pneumonia? So many different modalities all at once it seems. A domino effect?

@jessie1990 Have all the other issues resolved? (other than the rest of the tumor) Surely they won't operate on you if you have any of these other modalities. Pneumonia can be huge and so for an abscess. Were all of this things present at the same time? I'm still not clear on that.

@jessie1990 Jessie, how sick you must have been!! I'm so sorry. I can't even imagine all of that at once. Have they set an actual date for your next surgery? Do you have a good family/ friends system that can be there for you? I sure hope so. 🙏
