Aortic aneurysm and a ICD

Posted by Brownsman @benjones, 3 days ago

I've been living an 4.5 aortic root aneurysm for 2 years. I've recently been having very high pulses. I was told I had non-specific VT. My doctor is wanting to place an ICD to stabilize my pulses. Does anyone on here have a aneurysm and a ICD. Just wondering what to expect. Thank you!!

Hello Brownsman @benjones . Your situation is complex. I had a septal occluder placed in the Fall. I was lucky to have a team of cardiologists/neurologists/pulmonologist communicating on approach and risks associated with my stable 4.4 aortic root aneurysm and the placement of the device. There was expected self limiting afib associated with my recovery. Luckily mine was mild, so no treatment. With yours being severe enough to warrant the electrical device placement, I would encourage you to ensure a team approach to include the same specialists that I listed above and was lucky to have. Your risks are significant and multifaceted with or without the procedure and device,, so preparation will facilitate a good outcome. Good luck! My prayers go with you.
