anyone using Brinsupri in low dose?

Posted by smtdoc @smtdoc, Dec 9, 2025

Struggling with M. abscessus and bronchiectasis, I was so excited to start Brinsupri. Over the first 3 weeks of the low dose protocol my blood pressure rose from normal to 155/95. At manufacturer's suggestion stopped the RX BUT be aware the medicine stays around for several days. My blood pressure peaked 3 days later at 180/118. There were no changes in any other medicine.
So if you are using this Rx, check your blood pressure!
Even so, I wonder if anyone is using a lower dose like one tablet, twice a week? Would be willing to try again!

Hi,
Has anybody been on Brinsupri for a long period of time say more than 6 months. And does it reduce coughing and muccuss production from the lungs.
Alos any major side effects.

@brody89 I have been on 25 mg Brinsupri and it will be almost seven full months. Very successful results to report in less cough, less mucus, and regained energy. It takes awhile, 4-6 months for me. I continue with twice daily airway clearance, and nebulizing with 7% saline, and exercise and mostly healthy diet.My only side effect is drier skin especially my legs, but manageable. Jeanne

Hi,Re Brinsupri:
Isn't the lowe dose one tablet per day.
How is it effecting you any side effects and is there a reduction in mucuss production and coughing?
How long have you been on it.

@brody89

I've been on Brinsupri 10mg/day for eight months. Within a week or two of taking Brinsupri, my cough stopped and mucus production was reduced. In addition, my overall energy level improved. The Brinsupri has been a positive game changer for me. I may have experienced more dry skin but that's hard to say. My pulmonary function has not improved. For that I would have to try 25mg daily.

@susankk Hi, Thanks for your reply.
It is really good to hear that your cough has stopped and mucuss production has reduced. Also your energy levels have improved. I have also suffered from fatigue which is associated with Lung airway damage (Bronchiectasis).
Another good point is that you are on the lower dose, increasing to the higher dose will i think improve your pulmonary function and with the increased energy will allow you to increase your exercise activity. Therefore producing a better outcome all round.
I hope it is approved in Australia soon so i can reduce my dependence on my steriods intake.
Take care.

@heidi0974 Hi, Great to hear that finally there is a drug that can treat the side effects of inflammation from lung airway damage.(Bronchiectasis).
Instead of steriods.
I have a lot of mucuss porduction which produces my cough which is from my inhalation injury which damaged my airways.
Cant wait for it to be approved in Australia.
There is also early stem cell trials (Autologus lung basal p63 stem cells) being undertaken in China which have shown very good results.
So the future is starting to look better.
Take care.
