Anyone taking Mirtazapine? Is it working for you? Any side effects?

Has anyone been taking Mirtazapine? Like to know if they have taken themselves off and how did you do it?

I've been taking Mirtazapine nightly over a year. It did the trick for me ie gained weight, which was needed and slept through the night 9- 10 hours!
No side effects noted.

The mornings are tough after Mirtazapine assisted sleep. Lot's of consternation and thoughts upon awakening. They seem to dissipate after about an hour. Appetite at night is very strong! Have med check appt on Wed.

I have the same symptoms as you have. What dosage are you on? I was on 30mg and have started to reduce it to 22.5mg.

It makes me drowsy during the day. But sleep good at night. When I get up I am ok , but as the day goes on I become tired and lonely. I have no appetite. Have to make myself eat.

Has anyone weaned themselves off of Mertazapine? How did you do it and any side effects?

I have taken 30mg of mirtazapine for 5+ yrs. It was prescribed for depression. It is the only antidepressant that has helped me. Yes it does have the usual antidepressant side effects..dry mouth and weight gain but I will take them as opposed to depression. Tried every antidepressant there is even a cocktail if more than one at the same time. Those side effects were not for me which were more anxiety and couldn't sit still. I think that in the next 10 yrs. The medical profession is going to figure out which pills work for which people. It will be too late for me but hopefully the people who need medication to overcome depression will benefit without having to try so many and have it taken months

Started taking a lower dose in 2022 and gradually upped it to 30 mg. Have been taking 30mg at night for over a year. Lately have weaned it down to 22.5mg in the last 5 days. Feeling off today. I guess my body is adjusting to the change. Will need to contact my doctor to go over this.
