Anyone have experience taking a service dog?

Posted by trequestrian @trequestrian, May 5 9:14am

I have a diabetic alert service dog that has saved my life many times and keeps me alive. I am wondering how service dog friendly the hospital, lab, sleep study, and local hotels/bnbs are. She is the only thing I use for monitoring and fixing my blood sugar.

I am frequently at Mayo and have seen service dogs with patients. There may be exceptions in certain areas. For example, I doubt they will be allowed in the room for imaging procedures like MRI and CT scans.

This might be a good question for Mayo Clinic's free Concierge Services? It's worth contacting them.

Will you be traveling alone? Will someone be able to watch the dog in a specific area where they are not allowed?

@roch Thank you . I contacted them. They said there are patient services that can help book the flight, the hotel, etc. and do the legwork on what is needed for a service dog with those for a small fee.
