Anyone Else Have Eyes Irritated by 7% Saline?

Posted by picartist @picartist, Feb 25 6:33am

Since I have started Nebulizing my eyes have become very irritated. Of course this could be from something else but just asking to see if anyone else has noticed something going on with their eyes that could be caused by saline.

I have dry eyes but I also felt the saline mist was irritating my eyes. So I got some goggles that fit over my glasses and they keep any saline steam away from my eyes. I think it has helped.

I look pretty ridiculous: Goggles on eyes, headphones on ears, canula in nose (I am on oxygen), and nebulizer in mouth. My husband threatened to take a picture.

@irenea8 🤣🤣🤣Picture pretty please! If you can't laugh about this d^&*()# disease, you might cry.
Another thought - which nebulizer are you using? With my old machine, I put a flexible tube on the outlet side to make the varpor come out farther away from my face. With my new one, the Pari eFlow Rapid, it is finished so quickly it doesn't bother me.

Ha! Photo oh no no. I am using the pari sprint and the steam comes out the top side close to face. Not sure what you mean by flexible tube on the outlet side. I have an eFlow but would need to order the correct nebulizer to go with it. However I feel I need a slower process to get up the amount of mucus I have and I use two vial of saline in the morning nebs.

I get it!
Here is one nebulizer I have used in the past - it worked with my Pari Trek, DeVilbiss Traveler, and Pari Vios. Of course now, with the Pari eFlow Rapid I have to use the proprietary handset. I preferred it to all of the Pari nebulizers I ever tried, because it didn't steam up my glasses!

@irenea8 Sounds like your husband has a sense of humor. Good idea! I have never had dry eyes and now, just got diagnosed with dry eyes last week. I've been nebulizing since November 2024 with 7%. Maybe I should try goggles? I have been coughing all day for the last 3 months and switched to 3% 2 days ago and though I still have my cough, it's improved by about 80%.

Yes he sure thinks he is funny! And usually is. I got these goggles from Amazon to protect my eyes

And for dry eyes I like Oasis Tears and they were recommended by my eye Dr.

:). Thanks Irene! My eye doctor recommended Ivizia but they don't seem to help much. Will try both goggles and oasis. Great idea on the goggles!
