Anybody having nasal congestion issues lying down at night?
I am having congestion issues at night its been 4 years. Everytime i wake up during the night and one of my nostril is completely blocked , it is the most ANNOYING thing , gives me frequent headaches. Once i stand back up after a few minutes it unclogs...Ive already had two turbinate reductions + septoplasty but it didnt help at all. The nasal sprays dont work no more. If you relate to this post please let me know if some things brought you relief, thank you.

Stop with the surgeries.
Congestion, nasal/sinus defense mechanisms are all intrinsic responses.
There is nothing that the cutting, dissecting of tissues/bones will do for a patient. Less than 1% of patients whom present to an ENT, which should be a very very very last stop on the list, would ever need/benefit from a nasal/sinus surgery.
Most patients “feel” better for a little bit because of major nerve disruption and healing and the belief (placebo) affect that someone aka their surgeon has helped them.
Many people have co-existing conditions that contribute to nasal/sinus reactions such as allergies, medications, diabetes, poorly diet or an onset of ongoing inflammation.
NONE of this is due to improperly functioning anatomy. And it’s about time people stop putting their belief into the bread and butter.money grab jobs of ENTs.
I put a little Vick’s at the base of my nostrils which helps.
You could also have GERD. I often awaken stuffed up after lying down in bed. I did allergy shots for years and blamed it on allergies, however my last allergy test was negative. This year I had an EGD. Come to find out, I have a patulous gastroesophageal junction, which now they believe can be linked to chronic sinusitis. Eustachian tube dysfunction can also contribute to nasal congestion as well. Best of luck.
Hmmm….maybe I need a new gastroenterologist and ENT doctor. With my persistent symptoms for 2 years and none of them have mentioned this.
When we moved to Kentucky I had headaches and stuffed head. This is the only location I have to take allergy medicine for stuffy nose. My husband too. He sleeps in a recliner every night which helps. I also elevate my head and use a room humidifier. Best wishes.
