Any experience with Nexletol or Nexlezet?

I’ve had bad side effects with rosuvastatin, atorvastatin, and especially praluent. My doctor is now recommending Nexletol. Has anyone had similar intolerance with statins that has tried Nexletol or Nexlezet?

I feel what you’re putting out there. 🙂

I just started Nexletol in December, 1/2 pill a day. This is on top of other cholesterol meds I take, some of which I am taking again after bad previous experiences. I was skeptical to try what already proved to be horrible, but…my LDL is consistently lower than ever.

This all has happened because we have gotten to the core of what is happening in my body and not using a “spray and pray” approach. My recommendation is to make sure you have a doctor you trust and expect him to thoroughly explore why your cholesterol is where it’s at. There are a lot of options available and science sure knows a lot about it. A good doctor is an expert of what to do, then you can be an expert at doing it.

I had statin issues (muscle pain) and researched side affects. I stopped taking Atavorstatin (sp), found a new doctor and now take Zetia and Nexletol. My LDL is low 60’s, HDL is higher than ever at 70 and I have no side affects. I changed from baby aspirin to Plavex and now don’t bleed like crazy. I do have several blockages (90 to 20) so we’re monitoring that. So far, so good.

Hi there. I had taken every statin out there with the same bad results. Took Repatha with difficulty. A year ago doc put me on Nexletol. I have had no side effects that I can tell. LDL in 65-70 range . Tri 78 and HDL in the 50s. Since angioplasty recently I am going to add Zetia to get my LDL lower . (That is also the combo in Nexlizet). Its pricey but quality of life is important to me. Only drawback is that we really don't know what the long term affect it will have on heart because it's relatively new .

Wow, thanks, your experience sounds identical to mine. My main hesitation to trying Nexletol or Nexlezet is that it’s relatively new, as you say, and one bizarre possible side effect is rupturing a tendon (???!!!) I’m able to get my LDL to 90 with just diet, but I have some plaque in my carotid arteries so I will probably give Nexletol a try. Thanks again for your post.

I have been on Nexletol for 3 years. I was hesitant to try it as you are - so many bad side effects to statins. However, Nexletol surprised me. I have not had one side effect to date. It is working, not as well as statins with Repatha, but my LDL is much better.

One caveat…if you decide to take it, be sure to avoid Cipro and other related meds. It is listed in the cautions of Nexletol, but not many people are taking it so your doctor or pharmacist might overlook the interaction. Nexletol enhances the tendon problems of Cipro… Other than that, I have been good to go on Nexletol.

Wishing you good heart health. 🙏❤️🙏

All the best, Thea

PS - I am sorry - failed to point out a major side effect - the cost of Nexletol is damaging to the wallet. Try to get samples and use their coupon from Esperion if you are eligible. Also - I had to get prior authorization to get BCBS to pay for it - not fun.

Nexletol - one post mentioned a bizarre side effect related to tendons. I had a tendon rupture in my left foot 25 years ago, and doctors could not even identify the problem for months other than very swollen and severe bruising, pain when walking. Ultimately, the tendon in my arch ruptured, laving me with a totally flat arch,
A couple of years ago my cardiologist prescribed this for me. I mentioned this side effect, listed in large print to tell your doctor if you had tendon problems, to my cardiologist and she said it was so rare I shouldn't worry about it. I went on that drug, took for a few months, and that rare tendon side effect did happen to me, with inflammation in my right foot and ankle, and up the back of my calf. I was in treatment for that for 3 months! Rare side effects do occur!
