Anxiety and Acid Reflux anyone?

Posted by vsby @vsby, Oct 12, 2023

I have anxiety that started 18 months ago never had it before in my life. About a year ago I started to develop acid reflux and it’s just getting worse. Anyone else have that problem. Doctors just keep throwing medication at me and they’ll make me sick I don’t think I’m alone.

Oh, I forgot. For years I slept with my upper body, not just my head, elevated to help with the acid reflux. Not ideal but it allowed me to get at least some sleep.

I just want to add another cause of acid reflux that my doctors overlooked. I started getting acid reflux around the same time I started doing more yard work, which entailed more bending over. It turns out my acid reflux is being caused by Moderate Hiatal hernia.

Hi
Thank you.
So today I plugged up after 3 hours of relux at night...it will end I know. Painful in the mean time.

I take pantoprazole for acid reflux for about 6 months and proxitine 10 mg for about 5years taking it one day at a time it has helped me a great deal but sooner or later I am going to eventually come off them god willing

If they are working, why stop what isn't broke. I did and regret it, now anxiety has returned and I have to go through all the side affects to get back to where I was. Could kick myself for stopping.

My reflux issues started after I had my gallbladder removed, 11 years ago.

On prescribed Nexium, helps somewhat, but the real way I survive living with this chronic condition is by not eating any red sauces or fried foods. I also eat my main meal about 2pm and basically nothing after that, except maybe a light snack.

I do have a small hernia, but I do not think that is causing me any trouble.

Anxiety is also another trigger, when I am over stressed, I really suffer. I have to get that under control.

Anxiety seems to be a major factor in all my suffering. Very difficult trying to get that under control and now trying without meds because of the side effects. Take it one day at a time because as my therapist says, it took more than one day to get this way, it’ll take more than one day to get well.
