Ambien and mirtazapine
I have gone through a lot of trauma and medical issues this last year and it’s gotten to the point the Ambien I’ve taken for 15 years isn’t working well anymore. My doc started me on Mirtazapine for that and other issues and I thought I could just cold turkey the Ambien. That does not work. Does anyone have suggestions, I’m thinking of cutting Ambien down 25% a week while taking Mirtazapine so I can eventually only reply on that. Any thoughts?TIA

After 15 years on Ambien, stopping cold turkey is really tough, so you’re not alone there. A slow taper while starting mirtazapine is very common, but 25% a week can be too fast for some people, so it’s worth going slower and checking in with your doctor. Give your body time to adjust and be gentle with yourself through it.
