Ambien
I have been on 10 mg of Ambien for about 10 years and honestly, it’s something that I look forward to every night so I can get some sleep and peace of mind. It is controlling my life and there are days when I run out and I don’t sleep. I am wondering if anyone else has had the same experience, and they were able to recover from it. Thank you.

I cannot get to sleep without Ambien but I find I only need a nibble of a 10 mg tablet. It is just enough to help my brain to stop going to random thoughts, endlessly. Sometimes I will be able to get to sleep but wake a couple of hours later and will need another nibble. I have unpleasant side effects from Ambien if I take more than a nibble so that definitely keeps me honest about controlling the dose.
I have been on the Ambien 5mg. for over ten years, it works for me. but now my insurance will only cover three
month supply in one year. And will not permit me to even purchase with my own money. I have been working on
solutions for my sleep issues for some time. I recently started with a sleep clinic.
That is great just a nibble will work. I do that too but by the end of a long day I take the rest. And unfortunately a nibble doesn’t always work for me.
Wow. That is so unfair about your insurance. We need to sleep!!!
I don't see how your insurance company can keep you from filling a script if you are willing to pay for it. You could ask your doc for a script for 10 mgs (and break in half) which would give you twice as long covered by insurance. But also, talk to your drugstore about filling the script you have. My insurance won't cover mine for every month but I can pay for it and have it filled.
Some times I need two nibbles. But I try for the lowest dose possible. We all know our own sleep problems and if I'm not drowsy in about 10 minutes after taking the first nibble, I have a little bit more. Over time we become inured to the effects of this drug if we are taking it every night so better to take as little as possible so increasing the dose is possible.
I know its insane that insurance will even prevent me from useing my own money, My Doctor has no problem writing the script, But I believe its more to it, I was told
If I stay on the Ambien I will brake a hip. This clinic for insomnia is working with me. I believe they are doing all they can to help me. When you can't sleep it such a sad and helpless feeling.
Yes I agree I do need sleep, science and Doctors are quick to tell you all the health benefits of a good night sleep.
It is such a helpless feel.
I am so sorry you are going through this. Your doctor should have the final say, not your insurance company.
You are absolutely right, we all need a good night's sleep. I've been taking ambien for about 25 years and haven't broken a hip yet. I hope the insomnia clinic will be able to straighten this out.
Smile 😊 happy to hear you haven't broken a hip. Thank you for caring. This insurance has covered my Ambiem since I started taking it. Now all a sudden they only will covered three months a year.
No warning are anything they just cut me off. Now I want to have surgery to repair bags around my eyes, I am open to recommendations.
