Airway clearance and how I feel throughout the day

Posted by @ling @wangling, May 4, 2023

Hi everyone,
I know it might be a diffuse question, but let me try.
My pulmonologist told me if I do the airway clearance correctly. I
should feel clear of mucus during the day. I spend almost 30 minutes
doing it (flutter + autogenic drainage in the morning and evening). But throughout the day, I have to constantly clear out mucus most days. I am wondering what your experience is, is it normal for you? Maybe I am too sensitive about it.
Your experience is greatly appreciated.
Many thanks!
Ling

Yes, you can use one neb after another and then clean it.

I slowed the flow by putting my tongue in front of the opening. Takes a little experimenting but now I don't cough when I do it.

I have not been an every day saline person for a while, but with this one, I have been doing 2 days on, one off, and my lungs are more clear.

Sue- Glad to hear your lungs are more clear.
As I indicated to Scoop I started doing three times a day with the Obmbra compressor. I do one session about an hour and a half before bed and it appears to help with a feeling of being clear of phlegm/mucus in the throat and I feel I am sleeping better. I use two vials a day and do my own version of percussion cupping (front and back) during postural drainage and after postural drainage...... it appears to be working well. For me, I do not attach the Aerobika to the neb cup, I take a long deep slow breath in and hold before exhaling in hopes of getting the saline deep into the lungs, lower lobes. It appears to make a difference with the amount mucus that comes up and out.
In the big picture with all I am still trying to find my way for best practices for me. Just so very pleased I feel well overall, so far, without taking the antibiotics for the MAI. Again, thanks for your input, and Irene8's, when I needed it.
Hope all is going well in preparation for your upcoming trip.
Barbara
