A Moment of Peace
Sitting at my little desk by the window.
I hear the cardinal singing, full, round notes...red notes!
In the window my grandmother's ivy plant is hanging,
repotted by my wife last week.
Today it has four new leaves, looking very happy.
We go back 70 years, this little plant and me,
my grandmother's voice nurturing us,
and glad for my wife's gentle pruning.
This is my moment.

Every morning I am blessed by the visiting pony in the meadow off my back deck. She waits patiently for a few little carrots, let's me pet her softer than fleece nose and we exchange pony rumble humming and human cares. She is my total gift from God and even though I know she will not live forever, I will enjoy every early morning moment of listening to her and her listening to me.

14 ReactionsWhen painful days take me...off to places I don't want to go...Dr, appointments "procedures" blood work, a Face Time is waiting for me when I get home. Not just any Face Time, but one from my grandson and my great-grandbaby girl! I am a GG... a Great-Grandmother! My grandson always wants to know how I'm doing but I just want to see that little pink Sweetie Pie who is busy gnawing on everything in sight to cut her first teeth...and I remember...
when her Dad did that...
and his Dad.
And things are pretty okay.....

19 ReactionsThank you for starting these uplifting comments.
Summer has now awakened all the trees, various shades of green surrounds us with their beauty.
The magic of baren trees asleep in the winter changing to magnificent colours of green is truly a miracle and work of a power much larger than we mortals .

14 Reactions@oneputt Beautiful! My sister and my brother in law live in the country. They have a horse across the road, that when they pull in the driveway, the horse dashes to great them every time they come home.
It is a regular normalcy God has given them, her husband is suffering from Parkinson Disease. She says the horse is a blessing for her.

Thank you for your beautiful imagery! I’m a writer and retired teacher who hasn’t written in 6 months due to severe depression. You make me want to begin this lifelong practice again.
Thank you🌺

10 ReactionsSo much is in the back of our minds regarding many other people, countries and the divisiveness going on today.
To have moments of peace and to have peace of mind is a blessing.
Thank goodness for the beauty that animals share with us. What beautiful soulful friends they are to us.
So many simple things to be grateful for and to realize one is blessed to have. EX: Mayo Clinic Connect for us to connect with each other .......which helps in more ways than one.

1 ReactionHi, @bethyh79 Here's the poem in its entirety:
When despair for the world grows in me
and I wake in the night at the least sound
in fear of what my life and my children’s
lives might be,
I go and lie down where the wood drake
rests in his beauty on the water, and the
great heron feeds.
I come into the peace of wild things
who do not tax their lives with forethought
of grief. I come into the presence of still water.
And I feel above me the day-blind stars
waiting with their light. For a time
I rest in the grace of the world, and am free.
Cheers!
