7 month Cirrhosis journey update

Posted by carroljeffries @carroljeffries, May 30 8:17am

Hello everyone.
I wanted to give you a 7 month update on my Cirrhosis journey.

I had fantastic news today and wanted to give everyone hope. I was very distraught when I was diagnosed with cirrhosis stage 4 in Nov 2025. Having never drank alcohol the diagnosis really hit me hard and I read everything to help me better understand it. I am a troubleshooter by trade and I searched every place for answers. This group helped me with answers and comoradery and I am forever grateful to have found it and for everyone's kindness and offerings.

I had my 7 month check at the liver clinic today, 29May26.

My Steatosis score which is the fatty liver went from S3 to S1-2 with S3 being the worst. She said it went from 66% to about 33% !

Fibrosis is the scarring and is measured 0-4. I went from F4 cirrhosis to F3 which is severe scaring. Stage 3 is still serious but she said could also be improved some.

All in all the CNP was very pleased and the outlook is much much better now. She was surprised at how I turned my numbers around and was interested in what I did.

I told her everything I was doing:
Down 50 lbs in 6 months
Changed to a plant based diet with some chicken and fish
Ride my bike 60-80 min each day
Limit calories to 1200-1500 calories /day
No carbs
No sugar
Low sodium
No processed foods
Eat more protein each day
Started Rezdiffra on 12/24/25

With my recent Fibro scan and labs she said it's not considered cirrhosis now. My liver is under less burden and If I keep going in this direction I might be able to improve it more. I took aggressive action early with my changes before it was really bad and too late.

All in all she was very pleased and my outlook is much much better now.

It hasn't been an easy journey but with this groups insights and knowing I'm not alone really kept me going. I know I didn't do everything right but I kept trying and going. I understand this is a lifelong journey and I am committed to making my changes permanent. I've learned that if I fall down in a weak moment I just need to get back up and move forward. I want to thank everyone in this group and Please keep trying and don't give up.

I want you to know how important and valuable all your posts, stories, struggles, and inputs have really helped me. Thank you everyone and never stop trying !

Forever grateful
Carrol Jeffries

@rosemarya
Yes I received a lot of positives from these groups and valuable information. Thank you for asking I have an Ultra sound in 2 weeks, a 4 month follow up with the team & labs and in 6 months another Fibro scan.
It's continuous monitoring and hopefully I will keep going in a positive direction. That's the hope but only time will tell.

@rosemarya I just want to say that I couldn't do this without this group. I was down so many times but found inspiration and the strength to go forward from this group. This group was my savior as I didn't get a lot of direction from my medical provider. I want everyone to know that we can benefit from each other and help each other. I don't know what the future holds but I know I wouldn't be where I am mentally or physically without the help from this group. I can't tell you how important you all are and to never lose hope and keep moving forward.

@ferrer2024 actually it's the opposite. My Dr asdigned me to a CNP who gave me my F4 cirrhosis diagnosis on Nov 3 and then told me to make my 6 month appt which turned into 7 months. Nothing out of her from Nov until this past week - May 29. She did have a nurse contact me about getting started on Rezdiffra and a dietician contacted me with an appt in late Jan. I had nothing from Nov 3 until late Jan. I am a troubleshooter and there was no way I could do nothing for 3 months as the news I got made me believe I had maybe 1-2 years to live. I read everything I could and joined this group and other groups to see what others journeys look like. I took it upon myself to actively do make changes and do something. All the things I did were my decisions from what others said worked for them and from reading. I made mistakes but just course corrected and I had all intentions of changing my doctor or CNP but she did that for me. her schedule is so full that she made my next appt with another CNP in the liver clinic. My appt is in 3 months and I'll see how this CNP is but I may still change. My doctor situation is not ideal. Not sure I appreciate being handed off to a CNP in the liver clinic with this diagnosis.

I loved your story. I have stage 3 fibrosis. An endocrinologist has been helping me with my treatment to liver disease. He put me on Wegovy 0.5 and 1month later rezdeffra. So im taking both. 3 months for wegovy 1 month for rezdeffra. I was at 159lbs when I started wegovy. Since then im 143. All in the stomach from inflammation of the liver. I give you a Gold Star that u stayed with getting better. It's hard. Im having a hard time. But reading your story, you gave me Hope. THANK YOU AND GOD BLESS
