I'm taking trazodone for sleep, but having GI side effects

My doctor prescribed this for insomnia issues I was experiencing. Have been taking since April and it has helped with the insomnia. But I have been experiencing bloating, constipation and queasiness. This seems to come and go. I'm curious if anyone has had similar problem's

Thanks for your response. More to think about. As with any medication it's always a challenge to find the balance between the help it provides and side effects. At some point I would like to imagine not taking this med but haven't started down that road yet. Have had limited success with halving the dosage. From my understanding trazodone is not physically addictive but my experience has been there is a psychological dependence. Would be interested in hearing more about this. Thanks

Hello,
Have you tried supplementing with magnesium. I find it helps with constipation. If you decide to buy, get the 200mg but I recommend taking one capsule instead of the suggested 2capsule on the bottle instructions. Best to take it in the evening around 7-8pm.

Thanks for your input. I have used magnesium and it helps.

Are you by any chance taking Metformin for diabetes? I was taking it for years and had the same problem as you. Now I don't take it and still take Trazadone and no problems.
