I have dealt with severe dry eyes for years. All treatments and drops failed and the only thing that helped was cauterization of the tear drops. It is more painful that you might imagine. But, the last time I conjured up the courage to make an appt to have the cauterization again, the Dr now deals only with cataracts and no other Dr in the group does it. So, I deal with it and I sympathize with you. No one knows how bad it can be unless they have experienced it.

2 ReactionsThank you for the reply. It’s so helpful to share information. I have been very diligent with the warm compresses pushed directly onto my eyelids. Twice a day for about ten to 15 minutes. Plus drops in the day and ointment at night. Those things seem to be helping a lot.
Thank you for the information!

2 ReactionsThank you.
Systiene was recommended to me too, but I use CVS products which work very well,( opthamologist is impressed) and are cheaper!
I am also inclined to use a store brand of artificial tears as long as it is preservative free

Sharper Image has an eye pad that you plug in and after you select the preferred heat level you leave on for your 10 minutes or more or less.
